It's Tank. Just needs a few more tune ups before he starts fighting contenders

      1. You gots to fight the best repeatedly
      2. WWWWFD - what would WWF do? The formula for a superstar is super simple. You are either the king of the good guys or the king of the bad guys. Which could Tank be? You have to say words publicly and make actions that coincide to play that role.
Floyd was definitely the king of the bad guys.
Manny was the king of the good guys.

        Very exciting fighter
        Young.
        Very dedicated.
        Throw back fighter

Whats missing ? He ticks more boxes than Tank Davis who is not very marketable, with his personality and being a midget. David would explode if Canelo gave him that fight and he beat his ass.
It's a matter of opinion. Mine is that he isn't that guy. Thanks.

Right. Ali, the GOAT himself, would have become the same superstar even if he hadn't destroyed Liston twice. But it does help to get that signature name on the resume for recognition value at the very least.

Yes, indeed. Chico Corrales and Gatti turned themselves into must-see fighters by displaying this quality in spectacular fashion. We KNEW it was going to happen when we tuned in, and BLAMMO, wow, there it was. I am struggling to name any current fighter who measures up in that regard. It's not a knock on anyone, just an observation.

Too many subscription services contracted with one major promotion have fractured and atomized the access to fights for fans who don't want to carry 5 or more subscriptions. I frickin' hate the way the industry is going. There needs to be some sort of consolidation that serves the fans, not the narrow interests of the content producers. Ugh.

I had both HBO and Showtime for a long time as my only subscription services and it was for the boxing. The fact that I also got Sopranos, Ray Donovan, and a bunch of other good shows was a bonus that kind of spoiled me. Prime? What can I get on Prime - outside of the rare and uncompelling boxing content - that I can't get elsewhere? Fuggetaboutit. With HBO and Showtime essentially extinct, I have chosen DAZN as the least-worst current option, for now anyway.

Ha! Nearly spat out my coffee laughing at this. It just sounded funny as hell.

This is why it’s bad that Canelo refuses to fight Benavidez, possibly lose to him, and pass the baton.

And why it’s also bad that Gervonta Davis won’t fight Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson so we can see who is the best 135-lber in the world.

If Spence could’ve beaten Crawford and then Canelo, imo it would’ve been him. But he got destroyed.

I thought it would be Ryan after the Haney fight but he got caught using PED’s and made a fool of himself denying it.

I think Tank is almost there. He needs to keep stacking up wins against top 5 opponents like Martin and then clean out 135.

Benavidez gets the Canelo fight and wins clear, especially by ko, he’s there.

Takes more than just that. You need personality and charisma.

Tough shoes to fill. You have to be so good that when you go into the ring, there is no doubt you will win. That was Floyd and that was prime Roy Jones. You have to have Charisma where you sell the fight. You have to be ****y so the announcers give you sheet in the post fight interview. Not sure Tank or Ryan are those guys.
