Usyk already weighs about 220 lbs naturally and he admitted in the interview that he doesn't like fighting the guys who are bigger than him.

Usyk should move to Jr. Heavyweight and become undisputed in a 3rd weight class instead of Cruiserweight.

Usyk is posturing. He’s not going back down. This stance creates bargaining power. Personally I think he retires with nothing else to accomplish.Left Hook Louie

However, he's only breaking our balls. He is never going back to the Cruiserweight division. At this point he would struggle making the weight.
Also, he is 37 years old too.
It sounds like he's trying to work a better purse for himself against Fury rematch, and then the Joshua trilogy, which should be the final two fights in his career.PNUT901

You don't get many 3 weight champions... even fewer 3 weight undisputed champions, and even fewer that include an undisputed heavyweight championship.
They might actually have some legacy impact in the future.

What I find interesting about this is it is the first "cracks" in his demeaner I have ever read or heard. By that I mean he is venting out loud about an aspect of his career he dislikes. Has Usyk ever done that at any time? During either of his division runs? In any language? No, I think not. It may be a sign he is actually starting to wonder if the sacrifices are worth it. Discussing the offhanded thought of going back to CW may be those "rose colored glasses" we all wear in remembering the "good old days" of something we did. He remembers how much easier it was for him to be under 200, as opposed to all the extra work to get over it. Maybe the first step to realizing he needs a break? He has gone through a ton, and emotionally and physically it has to catch up to him. His legacy is assured, win or lose this rematch. Maybe he realizes it and cannot see keeping this up for too much longer?PNUT901

I knew the Rjj comparison would be made, here's the thing Rjj (& this is coming from an Rjj fanboy) Rjj was juiced to the gills & popped, took his slap on the wrist & it was swept under the carpet.
I bet Usyk is natural feels 100% better at his natural weight.
Usyk if he wins has won boxing, what if he loses? Trilogy? I think Fury dumps all the belts but the wbc if he wins, he's pretty much told us that pre fight 1.Last edited by Bob; 06-07-2024, 01:14 AM.
