Burns was a former titlist, a reigning titlist, AND a future titlist when Crawford beat him. Three divisions.
And Beltran was quite literally the best available opponent. It was for the vacant lineal, TBRB, and Ring Magazine championships and Beltran won his next 6 fights including the WBO world title (and popped for PEDs) after the Crawford loss.
Context is everything, you can't just think about the 2024 versions of Gamboa or Beltran. Crawford beat them at their best.Comment

He's literally one of 4 men in the 3/4 belt eras (along with Holyfield, Inoue, and Usyk) to be undisputed in two divisions.
He's one of 9 men in the history of boxing (along with Fitzsimmons, Ross, Armstrong, Canzoneri, Leonard, De La Hoya, Mayweather, Pacquiao) to be lineal champion in three or more divisions.
Crawford has a great case for P4P #1. So does Naoya Inoue, and so does Oleksandr Usyk. Any of the three is a great choice, nobody else is in the conversation.Comment

Accumulation of belt doesn't even matter its about who you beat to get to top of the heap. Who did that Charlo beat to become.undisputed? I cant even remember.

You are a clown. Beating Burns, Gamboa, and Beltran in three straight fights to become lineal champion is an excellent run.Comment

Boots has nothing to offer. Weak resume, not a big name, and the only belt he has is one Crawford already vacated in a division he already completely unified. All Ennis has to do is go to 154 and win a belt and Crawford will come take it from him. If Ennis wants to fight Crawford his next opponent should be IBF 154 titlist Murtazaliev. Simple as that.
Because if Crawford doesn't get the Canelo fight, his stated goal is to be undisputed at 154. Absent Canelo he's going to fight Madrimov, then the Fundora/Spence winner, then the IBF titlist.
You seem like a reasonable person so please humor me - if Boots has nothing to offer, please do tell what Avanesyan, Kavaliauskas, Brook and Khan had to offer?
Also, before Crawford signed on to fight Madrinov, 95% of boxing fans had no idea who he was. Boots is a much more established name in the US than Madrinov could ever dream to be so why fight that guy and clearly duck Boots?
Do you believe Madrinov, at 10-0-1is a more established name than Boots in the US at least? I’m sure you’ll bring the “he brings a belt” to the table and I will ask you what exactly did the four horsemen in mention bring to the table?Comment

What about Boots? Why did Boots fight scrubs like Karen, Lo Greco, Clayton, and the ghost of Dulorme instead of ranked contenders or big names? The only TBRB ranked opponent Boots has ever faced was Villa. Why didn't he face Santillan, Stanionis, Barrios, Norman, Cissokho? Why didn't he build his profile by fighting Collazo or Brook or Khan or Garcia or Berto or Alexander or Guerrero? There are plenty of old warhorses with names still floating about. But Boots didn't fight the ranked contenders and he didn't fight the names, minus Lipinets. He just sat around and cried for a megafight like Demetrius Andrade did.
As far as Madrimov or Ennis for Crawford?
Ennis for a belt he already dropped
or
Madrimov for the WBA and WBO titles plus WBC mandatory status in a brand new division
That's an absolute no-brainer. You cannot possibly believe it benefits Crawford more to fight a completely untested guy for a belt he already dropped than to become champion in a fourth weight class.
And, don't forget that he originally enforced his mandatory status against Tszyu, not Madrimov. Tszyu took the Fundora fight and lost, then Fundora dropped a belt to duck Crawford, so Crawford picked the next best champion in the division.Last edited by famicommander; 06-06-2024, 11:20 PM.Comment
