Comments Thread For: IBF to Decide Whether Joshua-Dubois Will Be a Championship Fight

The IBF said before Hrgovic-Dubois that IBF rules stipulate that its champion is not able to participate in a rematch when his mandatory defense is due

Strip Usyk to give his belt to a fight between a guy he beat twice vs a guy he knocked out with a jab.

    Gotta love boxing.

    Be smart, IBF.

If i was Hrgovic I'd be livered if they make the next fight for the legit belt, it could've been the extra motivation to perform and not take Dubois so lightly.

But hey-ho if the IBF want to make a battle of the losers for their belt that's on them but they're strict with mandos because of corruption and this happening would stink of said corruption.

Not sure how willing warren would be to screw Fury out of the Undisputed shot. If you're warren, you have fury try to beat usyk for all the belts, and you have him defend the ibf belt in an in house fight against DD or a mega fight against Joshua.

Fighting AJ next for millions is worth a lot more than an IBF belt. That’s plenty of motivation.

There was no guarantee he'd fight AJ, Wilder could of won and Eddie would've went that route instead even Turki said that, so kind of redundant statement.

Names are set, date is set. So quick!

Im really enjoying the current state of boxing. The best I’ve seen.

Whether IBF goes to this fight or Fury Usyk 2, makes sense from both perspectives. But I’m leaning to stripping Usyk.

Either or it’ll be Usyk rematching AJ or DDD in 2025.

The IBF belt would be devalued to near zero, so who cares. The fight itself is a good one, if putting a meaningless title on the line causes more casuals to be interested, then so be it i guess

Truly, I get the politics here. I just do not care. We all know who undisputed is. It was accomplished in the ring in a thrilling, back and forth affair that could have gone either way. If the IBF- who is the only organization I even remotely respect- follows it's rules and strips their belt off the undisputed champion, their "champion" will not be respected. Sounds to me like one of those times no one but DuBois and Joshua will be disappointed if they grant an exception. Better yet, write in a permanent exception to their rule book that the "mandatory before rematch" clause does not apply to an undisputed rematch. I mean, how often will this be a thing?
