It literally started in his first defence. He made the statement that he want s to get rounds in and he adopted a style where he did little but paw and wait for the right hand counter. It worked against ordinary contenders who were no threat to him and it resulted in him adopting that mindset and being unable to make adjustments for different styles. And I will add that wilder got smaller over the course of his career. I remember him being in the 220+ range in his contender years. Being 210 or so just didn’t help him against 270+ lbs guys. I suspect he is as never much for road work either or the type of repeated power burst anaerobic training that holyfield popularised. I just never saw any training footage of him doing roadwork either

Perhaps Zhang had some Thousand Year Old Egg Weights hidden in those gloves....

As bad as Jay Deas was, where does Malik Scott stand on the list of worst trainers ever? This is why you don't hire yes men or people who you KO'd in 90 seconds to be your trainer.

No, he'll just get KO'd by a 2nd-tier guy at this point, so why bother losing more legacy for less money? His health really should be his priority. He's had a very rough few years now.

I hate to see him tarnish his legacy like this. One cannot play boxing..Either you are all the way in or not. Half doing it can only get a fighter hurt.

When Wilder was younger he was able to get away with half doing it due to his athleticism. Now that he is older; He has to work more on technique and his fundamentals.

At age 38; Wilder has to decide whether or not this is what he really wants to do. If he does then he is going to have to make some very hard decisions and drastic changes.

If Wilder continues he might get a body on a record but it might be his own, his brother might see the real autopsy next time instead of making claims.
