Baseball is pretty popular. Networks renew contracts and throw lots of money at teams. Unlike in boxing, which was dropped by HBO and Showtime and then the Saudis are taking it over. A sport that used to be dominated by the United States back then, now taken over by the Middle East lol.
A lot of players are also sponsored. Internationally, it’s becoming more popular. Not only in South America where it is taking over, and Japan (most popular sport in Japan), but there’s a series called the London Series started in 2019, where MLB teams go to play in London, England. Whether that’s going to attract English people to play baseball and try out for the MLB, idk, but the MLB is trying to grow their brand there too.
There’s also been a lot of strides to shorten the pace of the game, more use of replays to overturn bad calls, talks of having a strike-ball system to correct umpires mistakes.
MLB also grew in popularity in social media and video games. MLB The Show was selling 100s of thousands of copies a decade ago and in the 2000s. Now it sells 1-2 million copies every year.
It may not be as popular as the steroid era, but I don’t want to see this sport gaining attention because of a bunch of cheaters anyway.
Boxing in America on the other hand, yeah it’s a dying sport but it’s also thriving outside of the US.TheProudLunatic likes this.

This constant need of wanting people all over the world to focus on just boxing is senseless.
I watch Fury vs Usyk live, for instance, and when I check other channels people watching football live far outnumber the ones in the Fury/Usyk.
Then there's tennis, volleyball, cricket, etc. also going on at the same time live. They all couldn't care less about boxing. It is what it is.
