  • Comments Thread For: Trainer Joe McNally Frustrated By Catterall-Taylor Scorecards

Trainer Joe McNally cut a frustrated figure post-fight following Josh Taylor's defeat to Jack Catterall (29-1, 13KOs) in an entertaining rematch. The fight between the Anglo-Scottish rivals ebbed and flowed, with both fighters having successes at the First Direct Arena, Leeds.

Was a close fight closer than there first one. I had it 115-113 catteral. The 117-111 to him was far to wide and scores like that ain't great. Right man won tho for me

Catterall won both fights is the bottom line. Move on with your lives now.

All good. No worries. How many world title belts does Catterall have in his collection in his house? And how many world title belts does Taylor have?

It does not matter if the scores were wide the right man one. Nobody complained from Taylor when Catterall was robbed.

            Scorecards were fine.

I had it 8-4, could easily have been 9-3.

I agree with McNally the scores were way too wide... which makes the home boy's win suspect at best.
IMO Catteral won by 1 or 2 points. And I think that Taylor can and should regroup and fight on.

Sad to see really taylors timing was off on a lot of shots and his footwork/reaction speed has slowed down noticeably. The version that beat ramirez/prograis would have wiped the floor with Catterall. I saw shades of the old josh when he was vicious in close range at times but he couldn't sustain the attacks.

The scorecards were a disgrace. Taylor by 2, 1 if you didn't give him a share of the 11th on the basis of one big shot by Catterall. It was close and you could have reasonablry argued either fighterby a round. I'm a Taylor fan but Catterall won their first fight by 4 or 5 rounds, so some might say this horrific scoring was a reflection of the first fight and say it's Karma, but as Bellew says, two wrongs don't make a right. I hope Josh xan win another world title so they can have a trilogy, but at this stage of his career, I don't see it happening. Great fight, spolied by corrupt judges - like the first fight.

Yeah 8-4 wouldn't be too far away. Judging is always a little subjective and computer punch stays don't really tell the story in professional boxing.
