Some people , and I see this a lot, think fighters don't do something because they decided to stop doing what was best for them and never put the guy in front of them in that equation.

Originally posted by Weebler I View PostIf you look on the fight thread, a lot of people thought Usyk was done mid-fight. I'm sure the live odds changed hugely at that juncture. I was saying finish him at the television, and I've watched a few fights before in my time so I know when it's on, but Fury stood off and did not attempt to stop Usyk (talked about not being greedy I think post-fight).
There's no need to get heated. If it's a Joshua thing, I support always support Joshua when he's fighting. As a matter of fact, Joshua did the same damn thing, he had Usyk hurt a couple of times and did not press further (memories of Ruiz Jr perhaps), he also stood off.
All credit to Usyk, he came through, but this notion that it was straightforward or he was never in danger of losing, it's not genuine and doesn't reflect reality imo.
Fury made a big thing about Usyk's size, but all along I thought this was nonsense, based on (a) how we'd seen him hurt and intimidate Joshua and (b) that Usyk is heavier than George Forman in his prime.
It was a close fight, until it wasn't. We all saw how much trouble Fury was in the 9th. Fury even at his best point of the fight never had Usyk remotely close to that much trouble. I think Fury will take some heart from how well he did in the middle rounds, but at the same time, I'm sure he will also have nightmares about the ninth.

I honestly believe in a rematch Oleksandr Usyk would TKO Tyson Fury. He came awfully close to doing it in this fight.TheOneAboveAll

Carl sounds like a reformed man since his run-in with John Fury. He used to have interesting opinions.
To be fair, Fury showed in the second Wilder fight that he could change his spots. Contrast his superb performance there, in the Kronk style, with the shadow boxing he’d done a few years earlier in the snoozer against Wladdy. (Remember? The main problem for Klitschko that night was having no one to grab and lean on.)
The point is he did learn from Sugar Hill and he also brilliantly applied what he’d gleaned, the hard way, from Fury-Wilder I. So we can’t rule out something of the same, or can we? Does he really need another battering at 37?
I vote that he hang ‘em up and get on with becoming the next Steven Seagal.
