Canelo-Crawford in Saudi just doesn’t sit right with me.

Munguia was quite happy to go toe to toe with Nelo rounds 1-3 then got countered on the inside and stopped throwing combinations completely and he looked huge in there.

80% Nelo still easily beats Crawford at 168.

Munguia surprised me with his fast combinations stunning Canelo and making him wince whenever he threw a body shot. Thought that it would affect Alvarez's stamina in the later half because he is known from getting winded from time to time. Surprisingly it did not though.

After Canelo's counter, he discouraged Jaime making him think twice from going on the offensive, after Canelo adjusted he had more precision when they were exchanging while blocking half of his opponent's punches with an active guard.

His own body shots took a toll on Munguia aswell, to the point he dropped his hands often and got timed in the later half.

This was certainly a exciting action packed fight to me.

If he is a great fighter, a generational type fighter then I do not see why he cannot move up and fight Canelo. You are looking at it all wrong, yes the fight is at 168lbs, but Crawford only needs to get to a weight he feels comfortable at. Also, Canelo is not a big 168lb fighter, he is actually small for the division. Canelo is a natural middleweight and the only reason he has fought at 168lbs is because he has the skills to do so. It is not because he is a big, natural 168lbs. Just like Paq was able to fight at welterweight when he in no way had the physical size to do so. Mayweather also fought at 154lbs because of his skills not his size.

So this excuse that Crawford cannot make 168lbs does not hold water. All the great fighters have fought at much higher weight classes and they did it because their were immense skill set. Toney fought at heavyweight, Sugar Ray Leonard went up to 168lbs when he was a natural welterweight same goes with Duran. Sugar Ray Robinson, Roy Jones, De La Hoya, Henry Armstrong, Whitaker, and others all fought well above their natural weights because they were great fighters. Canelo started out as a welterweight. If Canelo can do so then so can Crawford. Or is Crawford just not talented enough to fight past welterweight. Maybe his name just does not belong with the great fighters of the past and his name does not belong with great fighters of today like Canelo.

It's not that Crawford isn't a great fighter, those great fighters like Jones, Duran and the rest you mentioned had time to acclimate their physique onto those divisions they were climbing.

Crawford is 37 years old, debuted at lightweight and would be climbing up another three divisions without enough time to adjust.

It be reckless to take such a leap if you seen how sluggish and unconditioned fighters can be against an opponent in top shape. It's true that there are divisions to even the field, but athletes cutting to their optimal weight improves their athletic performance. When they rehydrate it's mostly to fight without health concerns and mostly retain the same frame/conditioning.

Heavyweights are the exception because they aren't affected due to their much larger frames and compensate with more punching power instead of mobile footwork. Even fat guys like Ruiz/Ortiz have better odds of fighting well in a week notice compared to Saunders, Bam Rodriguez and Davis if they get bloated outside of camp.

Crawford's style like Roy Jones Jr heavily relies on athleticism and timing, if one those physical attributes are dampened dramatically, Terrance's odds will plummet against the fighter with more advantages, especially if he gets caught with a lot of hefty shots to the body from Alvarez.

Canelo has the frame of Natural Middleweight like you said, compensating and adjusting his skills to make up for his size disadvantage. However over time, in exchange of his conditioning (cardio), reflexes and punch output (combinations), he has more durability and punching power than he did at Middleweight where he was a more complete fighter, reason why GGG despite being at his 40s, surprised him in spurts because Canelo's skillset was more limited.

Not sure how Bud fighting 13-21 pounds above will be able to hurt or make Canelo think twice considering he rehydrates up to 180-190 while still performing well. Will he able to withstand the shots without getting discouraged himself even if he can dish it out?

Because Canelo even at his natural division (160) was already known for his punching power and durability despite his more varied offensive and defensive skills. If Canelo loses he will be heavily doubted, if he wins doubt many will say much to give him credit like when he fought Charlo.

People think it be a competitive bout like Leonard vs Hagler, but it be more like De La Hoya vs Hopkins who despite Oscar being more skilled, just couldn't compensate for the size disadvantage in terms of power and durability.

This fight happening in Saudi takes it away from us fans who were at Canelo-GGG, who were at Crawford-Spence. Sport without fans is nothing man.

If you’re the type of guy who would just watch from your TV, it probably won’t bother you and that’s fine, but for the fans that want to attend these super fights, Saudi absolutely kills that experience.

This fight deserves a sold out crowd of passionate boxing fans, not some oil rich Arabs who don’t really give a crap about the sport. It deserves an atmosphere, it deserves fanfare, it deserves ambience…

…and it won’t get any of that in Saudi Arabia.

Money kills us all. People care only about it. Gentrification is the same. You have a great hood, and it is affordable until the rich start to buy and make it so no one can live there. Its that way with everything. Saudi money is the future of boxing, and yes, it sucks.
