  • Canelo-Crawford in Saudi just doesn’t sit right with me.

That fight still makes multi-millions in Vegas where fans can attend and actually enjoy themselves free of archaic laws.

This fight happening in Saudi takes it away from us fans who were at Canelo-GGG, who were at Crawford-Spence. Sport without fans is nothing man.

If you’re the type of guy who would just watch from your TV, it probably won’t bother you and that’s fine, but for the fans that want to attend these super fights, Saudi absolutely kills that experience.

This fight deserves a sold out crowd of passionate boxing fans, not some oil rich Arabs who don’t really give a crap about the sport. It deserves an atmosphere, it deserves fanfare, it deserves ambience…

…and it won’t get any of that in Saudi Arabia.

Unless Canelo gets a billion dollars he’s going to fight Berlanga. We just gotta deal with the fact that it will take a literal fortune for him to fight a welterweight.

Where in the world are you getting an idea for a friggin Canelo vs Crawford in Saudi from? Thought that idiocy was killed a few month ago, or did I miss some new announcement that came out the last few days?

As for actual major fights happening in Saudi...the unfortunate question nowadays is whether Saudi super fights are good or bad for boxing, but more about whether Saudi super fights are better than nothing (ie not happening for years, or never) which is what the 135+ fighters have issues these days.

If it’s a case of it happening in Saudi or never happening at all, I’m cool with it, but there’s definitely enough money to be made elsewhere. I think it’s very unfortunate Canelo’s and/or Crawford’s greed means this fight will happen in Saudi.
