  • Zhang is eating himself out of contention

His fight weights since the Jerry Forrest fight where he almost died of dehyrdation:
    256 vs Forrest
    274 vs Lewis
    276 vs Alexander
    277 vs Hrgovic
    278 vs Joyce I
    287 vs Joyce II
    291 vs Parker

His 30 day check in before the Wilder fight? 297 pounds.

I don't know why. I just saw three or four people here talking about him weighing 297 this week, and then I happened to check that number against his last few fights.

      EDIT:
Zhang uploaded a video of himself two days ago with the scale reading over 296 pounds, and he says he's aiming for 300+

great goal for a guy who’s only dangerous for 6 rounds and then becomes a stationary target.

To me this fight is more about Wilder.

If he comes out timid and dumb like he did against Parker, even fatass Zhang probably stops him. If he comes out aggressive and quick like the Wilder of old, he smashes any version of Zhang.

Regardless of how Wilder comes out, he needs to be careful the first half of the fight. Zhang’s left hand is a rocket, and Wilder has no legs

              I blame big John Fisher

Ever since he took Zhang for a proper Chinese takeaway and got him on the sweet and sour pork, Zhang hasn't been the same.

It is obvious the excess weight is harming his performance.

He should be aiming at 275 or less

He's looking to be leaning heavily on Wilder and his NBA frame with as much weight as he can.
He knows that even if he sends Hrgovic and Parker to the floor multiple times he isn't getting a fair decision against a westerner. He's going for the KO here.

I think that the outcome rests with how much Wilder can recapture. If it's north of 90%, he'll detonate the bomb late and we'll see the era-Imperative Wilder vs. Joshua fight, perhaps for one of the belts shaved off the unified title directly following Fury - Usyk I.

"The Wilder of old" was simply a can crusher. Now that he's having to step up the competition he's losing. I expect he'll lose here, too.
