Wrong. Morrell has been mandatory since Jan 2021. The WBA hasn't been defended since Smith defended vs Canelo. Benavidez only since May 2022. And the last time the IBF was defended was Plant v Canelo in Nov 2021, unless they want to claim GGG was an IBF mandatory. William Scull won an IBF final eliminator in July 2022. Regardless, Morrell has been mandatory for the longest, basically since Canelo first won the WBA in Dec 2020.

If we’re being honest, canelo has shat the bed with the Mexican holiday dates. He hasn’t had a successful ppv on one of those dates in 6 years. He’s bailed on a couple of dates and otherwise had primarily selected opponents that fit his risk management strategy, not fights that real fans want to see. Sure he has his typical brain dead groupies that would be willing pay to watch him fight a local fruit vendor, but he’s failed to capture the attention of the masses that these dates used to previously hold.

yep - Mexican fanbase. He did unify 168 when it was a weak division - so there is that. You could say he beat triple G in the 2nd fight.
watch Canelo's debut professional fight on YouTube - the fans were literally shouting "Canelo, Canelo, Canelo". Baring in mind this was a guy who had no amateur fights so they would've had no way of really knowing who he was yet they were already aligning themselves with him. There is literally no other reason for that other than him having red hair. To be sculpted into the face of boxing largely because of your hair colour is a disappointing low for the sport.

Post Fishnets, the non heavyweight cash cow has fought on those dates.

Unless someone can show Tank has surpassed Canelo as the cash cow, which I highly doubt, Canelo still gets those dates.

Canelo DOES NONE OF THESE THINGS. His fights are relatively dull affairs, there is nothing to particularly like about him and he is a convicted cheater...

I can only assume he is the face of boxing because of the work Goldenboy and Richard Schaeffer did in building his name and because he is a fair skinned Mexican with red hair.

On a side note Cynthia Conte is ***in smoking, I'd happily swim through an ocean of PH 1 sulphuric acid so she could queef in my face for 1 second
                Red hair and freckles?

Benavidez would have been a tougher foe that's for sure. Still a good fight though..

Maybe he's the only one that consistently fights twice a year.

You’re defending cowardice. Benevides has earned his shot in the ring.
