Errol Spence needs that money to Recover from that Beating. Derek didn't trained him properly, he sent him out there with instructions to get an ass whooping.

Just kidding, pay the man, he needs hair transplant just like Floyd did. He took Errol to the Pinnacle then to be a Piņata.

        Agree.

Now if there is some deal that lasted til the Bud fight or til they parted that was never amended than yea Errol should pay him that %. But in true value I don't believe any trainer is worth 10% of an 8 digit check.

I'm all for 10% up til a certain threshold. But when you are bringing in money based upon your popularity as a boxer more than your skills as a boxer I think the boxer & a trainer should flip to a flat fee. And I'd argue 8 digits is at or above that threshold.

Especially if I'm not your only fighter. If this is some Floyd & Roger type situation where Roger wasn't really training anyone else seriously & Floyd might call him at 3am to come down to the gym to work with him fair play I see a 10% argument for that level of loyalty & dedication. But if I'm your biggest name & you gotta split your time between 5-6 other guys & even if I usually come first but not always cuz you gotta fly out to corner some other guy the week before my fight or some sh^t than your ass ain't getting 10%.

Anyone got a link to the actual lawsuit to view the specific details?

Boxing checks may be big but the get sliced and diced so much you might be lucky to bag half of what you earned. Trainers get a % cut, promoters get a %, managers get a %, Tax Man get a %, too many people dipping their hands into a fighter's purse for a % take.

I say this tongue in cheek because who knows why these guys do the things they do but Errol has been getting a bit on my nerves ever since the Bud loss. Dude does not seem to be handling that L with grace at all.

It's a shame to see many fighters, not just spence falling out with their coaches after a bad loss. Everything is all fine and dandy only when they don't take an L. I actually have a feeling that it might happen eventually because I have seen this story a million times.

I hope Derrick wins this. It is a shame to see boxers try and stiff their trainers when they start getting bigger purses. I remember when GGG did it to Abel Sanchez. People need to remember that the trainer was only getting 10% when the fighter was coming up and earning low purses. They have put the work in over years, not just for one fight.

I never saw Errol Spence as being a cheapskate , but after all we’ve seen it’s sad to say and admit he is one. He was even crying about that 3% the sanctioning bodies of belts would get. Cmon Errol, you’ve made a lot of money in your career. Pay people what you owe them

If there was an agreement for 10%, Spence should own up and pay what he owes.

With that said, unless you make a crap ton of money, being a pro boxer has to suck financially.

You’re the only guy in the ring when it’s all said and done, and you put your body through the most physical, most grueling work a human can go through in any professional sport and then between the IRS, your state of residence, your corner, trainer, manager, promoter and network, as well as belt fees if you’re one of the 73 belt holders per weight class, it wouldn’t surprise me if a boxer sees less than 50% of the reported earnings once they pay everyone they have to pay.
