With that said, unless you make a crap ton of money, being a pro boxer has to suck financially.

You’re the only guy in the ring when it’s all said and done, and you put your body through the most physical, most grueling work a human can go through in any professional sport and then between the IRS, your state of residence, your corner, trainer, manager, promoter and network, as well as belt fees if you’re one of the 73 belt holders per weight class, it wouldn’t surprise me if a boxer sees less than 50% of the reported earnings once they pay everyone they have to pay.
Yeah people say boxers get paid way to much but in reality only a small percent do get the big money. Alot of fighters and talented fighters are having to take second jobs because they ain't got sponsors behind them or big platforms and time they've paid for a camp, managers, taxes etc there isn't much left from the actual fight purse. But Errol Is one of the sports big earners and if he's agreed to pay him that money before hand then I don't see why he shouldn't pay him even tho I think 10% percent is alot.

Now if there is some deal that lasted til the Bud fight or til they parted that was never amended than yea Errol should pay him that %. But in true value I don't believe any trainer is worth 10% of an 8 digit check.

I'm all for 10% up til a certain threshold. But when you are bringing in money based upon your popularity as a boxer more than your skills as a boxer I think the boxer & a trainer should flip to a flat fee. And I'd argue 8 digits is at or above that threshold.

Especially if I'm not your only fighter. If this is some Floyd & Roger type situation where Roger wasn't really training anyone else seriously & Floyd might call him at 3am to come down to the gym to work with him fair play I see a 10% argument for that level of loyalty & dedication. But if I'm your biggest name & you gotta split your time between 5-6 other guys & even if I usually come first but not always cuz you gotta fly out to corner some other guy the week before my fight or some sh^t than your ass ain't getting 10%.

Anyone got a link to the actual lawsuit to view the specific details?
      This right here.

The amount of damage Bud did to the Truth will linger for a longwhile. Spence is semi-retired and will now loose $5m and probably will un-retire and challenge Canelo at Super Middle just to make up that cash, and since Cownelo loves taking advantage of deteriorating boxers

I do agree that trainers taking a set percentage is flawed. It should be incentive based. 10% if the fighter wins but only 5% of the fighter loses. This will encourage their best efforts because a crap ton of money is on the line...

Trainers can't force fighters to fight intelligently or follow a game plan. So should a trainer be knocked down to 5% if his fighter fights like a total fkn moron? Errol got dusted by Bud because Errol is not on Bud's level and never was. That has nothing to do with James.

I do agree with you that Bud is a more gifted fighter than Spence but we all must also agree that the Spence Bud fought was a seriously damaged good.

People need to remember that the trainer was only getting 10% when the fighter was coming up and earning low purses. They have put the work in over years, not just for one fight.
Not only that. Abel was at all media events right next to GGG promoting the hell out of his fights. He was always giving interviews on his own promoting GGG. Abel built the GGG hype mentioning canelo and Ward non stop. Abel's mouthpiece is one of the main reasons GGG got big fights

                    GGG did Abel dirty.

If James has any self respect he should call off the dogs. He may have got it right with Garcia but he was so ineffective against Crawford that it should be him paying Spence for the beating he let his fighter take
