I agree. That's too much pressure to put on any young fighter. They tried to do the exact very same thing with Adrien Broner and we've all seen how that turned out.

There will always be only one Money Mayweather. Haney should be just fine. He has a good head on his shoulders and not to mention a great support team backing him.

One loss or victory should not define a fighter's entire career.

As you probably know, I never rated Haney that highly. I made a thread years back saying I saw nothing special in him. He’s a long, athletic guy with good feet and good hand speed but his technique isn’t good at all, I always found it funny some guys saw him as some master boxer. He’s also far too easy to hit once you get in range and his chin seems questionable too- definitely has toughness though, I was impressed with how he survived even if he was holding.

I think he could really benefit from getting away from his egocentric clown of a father. I don’t rate him as a coach and I don’t think his schtick is in anyway beneficial for Devin either, it’s like he wants to be the stat rather than Devin. He reminds me of that idiot Ken Porter.

I never understood that either. I was never a fan of Money Mayweather but I wasn't so bias that I couldn't acknowledge his incredible boxing ability and defensive prowess.

Feels like any young black boxer from 130-147 gets labelled the next Mayweather. We’ve had Broner, Tank, Haney etc.

I agree with Prograis here. With the ***ellery etc, Haney liked to pretend he was a dorky version of Mayweather. Haney's purses are going to plummet to the market value of non-elite fighter now that the O is gone

Great fight. I used to say Haney but after the Ryan fight, I changed my mind. It ain't gonna matter how much Devin tries to outbox Teo, once he get cracked, them legs gonna be gone. Ryan hit Devin with counters all night, and although Teo not as powerful as Ryan, he's still a better counterpuncher.

I agree. If Devin fight like he did the other night against Ryan Garcia then Teofimo Lopez would crush him.

I still believe something was off about Haney that night. He just didn’t look like the same fighter as he had in previous fights.

That "L" will forever have an * next to it. Haney beat Progrias fair and square. That wasn't the case with Garcia-Haney.

This is elite level boxing, those factors are going to have a effect on performance.

If Garcia was negatively effected by the 136 pound catch weight, and rehydration clause vs Tank Davis 'Then Garcia would of been positively effected by not making the 140 pound weight limit vs Haney'.

Ryan Garcia would of been a stronger fighter on fight night vs Devin Haney 'Than he would of been if he had made the 140 pound weight limit. Because Garcia would not of weight drained himself to the extent, that would of been required for him to make the 140 pound weight limit'.

Ryan Garcia did beat Devin Haney, and I am content that he won the fight 'But technically in the sporting arena, if everyone is honest? Ryan Garcia did not beat Devin Haney in a equal fight. It was not fair and square'.

This win for Garcia is great, is great in terms of what I like to call 'The pop world' i.e People who only have surface level interests in sports, will think that Gracia is a World Champion.

But in reality, every single top boxing coach or trainer, boxing insider and analyst 'They all know that Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney was not a equal fight. Only one fighter out of the two trained and fought under Championship conditions, and that was Devin Haney'.

Devin Haney is clearly skill for skill not on the level of Floyd Mayweather Junior or Manny Pacquiao. I would not even rate Haney on the level of Miguel Cotto.

But Devin Haney thus-far in his career, has already proven that he is a good Champion 'He is already a candidate for the boxing hall of fame, Haney has been a Undisputed World Champion'.

Where as Ryan Garcia is nowhere near the boxing hall of fame 'The only way a fighter gets to that level, is by actually winning Top level fights under Championship conditions'.

If Devin Haney is effected by this loss, then so what? That is the journey and battle in boxing 'Haney may not reach the peaks he has achieved before. But he still may go on to be a solid fighter of this era'.

I believe when people observe the lower weight divisions 'I find that people are quick to compare the fighters in todays era to past fighters. The boxing media behaves in this way, and so do certain folk within the boxing community'.
