The upside for this kid is tremendous. The sky is the limit for him at this point of his career.
There’s Matias, Cruz and Teo to just to name a few. Then there is always the rematch with Ryan Garcia.
One loss does not define an entire career. It wasn’t like he was knocked out or anything.
He lost to Welterweight for crying out loud.Comment

This dude was always overrated just like Stevenson, and Crawford. Crawford is the only one who has done better match making to spare his career. As you can see Crawford continues to avoid anyone who poses a threat, people like to bring up Spence and to that I say, Spence was and is the only name on Crawford resume but let's be honest, he waited for Spence to have an accident, need eye surgery, and by that time Spence had outgrown the division and was draining himself to make weight. That's not Crawford fault but he's very careful about taking on serious challenges.Comment

Crazy that "fans" think a loss is a nail in the coffin of a fighter's career. And we wonder why fighters shy away from true 50/50 fights. Losing is a part of life/boxing. Methinks its a little too premature to be singing Haney's obituary for losing to another talented fighter. He will be fine and will be back. Its all in HIS hands!!!!
You can say this was his first loss technically, but like Broner when he lost to Maidana, the writing was already on the wall that he wasn’t going to be elite. Maidana just got the honors of technically beating him first. But Ponce De Leon and Malignaggi had already done that in a lot of fans eyes.
With Haney, in a lot of boxing fans scorecards, that was his 2nd loss.
And btw, you’re right, I agree that fighters shouldn’t be counted out because of 1 loss, or even 2-3 losses. But what people are saying is that he’s not elite, he’s not the best as he claims. Haney can beat some top ranked fighters, but not the elites. I think that’s fair to say.

You are insane or just trolling one. What Haney really needs to work on his defense. Especially his upper body defense.
Both his reaction time and reflexes were incredibly slower against Garcia. There is no way that Ryan Garcia’s big ass should have been able to touch him up like that.

Haney needs to reestablish himself. I think fighting the winner of Taylor-Catterall or Sandor Martin would be a step in the right direction.Comment

That fight was a mandatory bout that he did not get to decide whether or not to fight him. It was written in his contract to fight him.
He fulfilled that obligation. So now it’s time to move onto bigger and better things.Comment

i used to call ryan cryin a lot but now i wont do that anymore, hes earned that respect, i dont think he will know about this or even care if he did but its still a mark of respect anyway, as for devin, he could be called dopey devin for a while but he and bill seem to have both taken this loss without the zillion excuses standard almost now so i think he can remain as devinComment
