Bud is done at 147. He showed us who the best was at that weight class. I would love to see him fight the best available at 154. If Boots is coming up to 154, I'm sure it would be a good fight. Maybe make that the interim for the WBO?

I remember when Crawford came up from unifying 140 how stoked I was. 147 was brimming with talent, all of it in their prime. I was not even worried he was signed to Top Rank, because in my mind there was no way an amazing warrior like Crawford, who was very active at 140 and cleaned it out without so much as working up any perspiration, would have done that without assurances Top Rank could get him the PBC fights. You can still find those posts under my name.
Then the rest of his career happened.
He started off ok, got a belt, had a few "get used to 147" type fights, than the inactivity and the bad names just happened. He has never come off of it. I loved Spence for all he overcame in his career and dammit he fought. He was active in-between the poor driving skills. But that is the beginning and the end of Crawford's 147 run- unifying in 1 fight with Mr. Spence. I do not know what is in Crawford's head (he has been at ease with his Hall of Fame career for over 2 years now, and has said so), but I am a complete skeptic we see anything with a young up and comer like Ennis. Just is not the pattern with him. He has made good money and does not seem like the kind of guy who would waste it, so he is not in need of a payday. He will get in the Hall. He beat his only contemporary with a dominating performance. I think he fights again, I just do not think it will be anything we really care about.Last edited by landotter; 04-09-2024, 10:19 AM.OnlyBeingHonest

What a ****** fight and ****** article.
Why on earth would Ennis be a better fight than Madrimov, Murtazaliev, Charlo, Fundora, or Tszyu?
The only belt Ennis has is one that Crawford already threw in the trash. Seeking a new title in a new weight division at 154 is the only option.

Writer fails to mention that Spence played games for over 6 months saying he was going to rematch and Bud was under contractual obligation to give it to Errol. Errol dropped out and now is calling out frickin Fundora after he wins via lucky cut.
Article acts like Boots is the unified man at 147 and Bud gains a bunch by beating him. Bud beats him and then Boots was overrated, had never fought anyone, etc. And Bud gets paid peanuts compared to seeking a big money fight. The Canelo situation is nowhere near this. Benavidez has proven himself and been Saul's mandatory for literally years. The public wants that fight. It is massive payday.
Bud fighting Boots does nothing for Bud. And Boots has fought 90% cans, is unproven and he looked sloppy and very hittable against B grade Villa.
Im hoping Bud vacates the WW belts and goes to 154. Or he may be waiting to see if Canelo wants the fight after Mungia.
Regardless, Boots needs to beat the top guys at WW and build his name with casuals before we start saying that Bud v Boots is a big fight. It isn't. Bud is a few years from retirement and looking for big names and big money. Boots and his team have fumbled his career and he is a maybe somebody with talent, close to a nobody. I mean the guy is apparently Hearns, SRL and SRR rolled into one in terms of potential. Stop fighting **** fighters and go look good against other top WW's dude.

I myself am not impressed by these "one fight a year" fighters. If 2 fights a year is the standard (3 fights is way too much in this sport nowadays), then they're essentially ducking one fight a year. They're taking way too less risks. Crawford essentially ducked four fights in the last four years. How TF would make anyone impressed by that?real raw likes this.

Poor Boots is in a catch 22,first people are calling for him to build his resume with top names, but if the top names want nothing to do with him, what can he do?.The welterweight division is very thin right now with fighters with name recognition.
