  • FOTY for me if Pacquiao-Cotto doesn't top this one...

I hope this is a great learning experience for Juanma. He cannot rely on his power alone to win fights. From now on there will be guys able to take his power for 12 rounds and give fire back... If he works on stamina and punch precision he'll still compete against the elite level. He has to work on sticking to the gameplan and using intelligence in the ring. Stop the ****in slugfests! Can't say it wasn't entertaining to watch tho

Great heart from both guys, props to Mtagwa for putting such a fight.

    • Juanma just let me down. I didn't know he was capable of fighting one of the most ****** fights I've ever seen. Since the 1st round, I noticed he wasn't throwing the jab and I knew he was just looking for a KO. Then I noticed he looked uncomfortable, trying to evade a cut by a headbutt, which happened anyway. After the cut, then he threw all his boxing skills to the trash and fought Mtgawa's fight. He even stopped throwing to the body. Mtgawa fights a ****** fight, but at least he knows how to fight that way. Juanma does not. Trading shots with no defense whatsoever? WTF Juanma!! It was no surprise that he tired late, since he missed quite a lot of BOMBS and MISSILES. Mtgawa was anticipating almost every punch since he pretty much NEVER used the freaking jab.

****** ****** ****** fight by Juanma. Invaluable learning experience though. It will definitely help him on future fights. Imagine if this had happened against Caballero, Gamboa or Vazquez.

A Caballero fight would still be very interesting. The only advantage for Caballero is his height and his trunks all the way up to his *******. Seems like boxers tend to forget he has a body, since it's pretty much non-existent. If Juanma keeps his cool, uses his jab and sticks to some sort of gameplan, he shouldn't have too much trouble with Caballero. Just don't go into crazy exchanges, lol.

      • To much BS this was a great fight fought the wrong way JML, but i still think people are going crazy with caba, gamboa and rafa marquez the 3 of them dont have even half of the chin that roger mtagwa has and thats what makes a fight with anyone of them interesting we all already know the kid has heart and a hell of a chin to wistand all he got hit with

        props to mtagwa

Credit to Lopez for surviving the last round but he has some thinking to do after nearly losing to a fighter not thought to be anywhere near his class.
I don't think he has any thinking to do. He fought an extremely awkward fighter, who made his defense worthless.

The only problems I saw was that he was not setting up his shots, he fell for the classic, if I throw every punch as hard as I can I will eventually knock this guy out trick.

I am worried about the wear he took tonight. He ate so many flush punches, this has the potential to have been the kind of fight that ended his prime tonight, much like Meldrick Taylor had against Chavez.

          • I didn't see it. Was it really FOTY worthy? Waiting to dl it soon!

            • OMG! I am expecting a win from Lopez more than that! Well, a win is a win though...

              • Yeah, Caballero better be scared of this kid, haha.
Not to rub it in, but I have been loud and clear about how untested and unproven Juanma is. Not a hater at all, but he hasnt shown what it takes to be a champion. Dont expect him to fight Pelenchin anytime soon, his people are going to go for immediate damage control.

Second Juanma have balls teh size of a melon.

Third Why Mexicans are trying to diss Juanma, when ther very own, Victor Ortiz quit in a fight that wasnt half as violent as this one and for so long!!!
lol not as violent have you seen maidanas ko ratio and matawas ko ratio and the hard punches maidana and ortiz were throwing. If your boy got beat up by a not powerful puncher and a nobody and barely survived why are you trying to talk **** about a boxer (ortiz) who got beat by a 26-1 25ko guy who is a champ???? maybe youre just trying to hate on mexicans. out of the 2 JML is more overhyped all victor needed to do was box and he would of eventually kod maidana but he did a ****** mistake to brawl. He wants the rematch with maidana but maidana don't want it he knows ortiz will fight differently in the rematch and doesn't want the buzz from ortiz victory to go away if victor rematches him and beats him.

Now on lopez like I said, he got rocked, battered and barely survived by a nobody, a boxer who is not a champ and doesn't even have a good record. Tell me whats more dissapointed???? I guess thats what happened to him for talking **** about caballeros last fight that he didn't do good well he did way worst than him tonight he got exposed.

                  • I still think Cotto is a better fighter overall than Juan Ma.. Juan Ma is good, but nothing great. If I had to choose from the two.. Cotto is the better fighter.

Juan Ma struggled in a fight in which he was suppose to showcase himself, and it was a PPV.. I mean.. it was worth the money yea? but a PPV with a fighter with 12 losses, and no streak of big wins prior too it?

I said it once, and will say it again.. Gamboa Vs Juan Ma would be a great fight, but while it lasts. Gamboa IMO would beat Juan Ma in a short war.

                    • Man, I would say the problem here was that Juanma was completely overlooking this dude. Talking about future fights and all. While Mtagwa has lost all those times and has been around for a minute, so hea ain't scared of getting hit and losing so he would come back over and over again.

This should be a good learning experience for Juanma. And for all those talking ****, Juanma still beats Cab and that's all there is to it. Cab has a terrible technique and wide shots, which leaves him open for Juanma's shots. Also, there is no way Juanma would treat that fight like he did this one.

It's good anyways that he went thru this, it should b a wakeup call for him. He NEEDS the Cab fight now so I'll expect this but not for Jan, maybe March would be good for this fight but it WILL happen
