Comments Thread For: Stanionis Wants Crawford to 'Release the Belts' as He Searches for New Date

Eimantas Stanionis has not fought competitively in almost two years. Stanionis, a Lithuanian welterweight, defeated Radzhab Butaev in a WBA regular title fight on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jr.-Yordenis Ugas 147-pound unification bout in April 2022.

The situation is very sad for 2nd tier fighters like Stanionis who don't make much money in this sport. They need fights to feed themselves and their families. Not to mention their training staff. They will fight anybody, literally. That's why rabid fans of overhyped fighters will never make sense accusing fighters like Stan avoiding fights just to overhyped their fighters even more. I suspect Stan will probably end up fighting high-risk, low reward, another 2nd-tier Kavaliauskas who is also desperate for fights.

Although you are right, Stanionus is not 2nd tier. He might give an older Crawford hell with his body attack. He's better than Mean Machine.

          Fugh that
There is no excuse for not fighting in two years
Fine , he got fughed over by Ortiz ( not really Ortiz’s fault ) but he should of taken any fight just to keep busy
All the hype is gone and it will be another hard road to get his name back up on the board

Stanionis is in the back room in the basement...no one is interested in him not even 147 lb bums. He's not ever giving anyone hell. How in the hell you put Stanionis in the same convo as Crawford.

Stanionis' manager is Shelly Finkel, and the platform he fights on is PBC. The fact that Stanionis' career is completely stagnant is their responsibility.
