Ward not fighting Bivol and Beterbiev is hurting his legacy, that's why he wants to bring up this nonsense take.
Ward never got the accolades that some lessor fighter did and he can be a little testy about it. As for Canelo...there nothing noble about moving to the US for money, millions of Mexicans do it and you absolutely F&^king hate them for it so lets not BS one another.

I assume you weren't around when Ward was active because you'd know that Beterbiev, Stevenson and Bivol were unwilling to fight the boogieman, only Andre Ward was willing to fight prime Kovalev. And since we're on the subject, every single trainer and expert on the planet agree that Andre Ward would have blasted Canelo out. The only people that dispute that are...lets just say less than expert or just dumb ass, slow, ******eds.

Also, Canelo's willingness to fight GGG, Lara, and Bivol should grant him a lot of leeway in terms of legacy fights.
when did C. Smith, Yildrim, Ryder, Billy Jo Saunders and Rocky Fielding become great?

he also got kicked off of hbo for ducking everyone they wanted him to fight and tried to fight dmitri sartison even after hbo said no you cant fight him. oh but at the end of his career he returned to rob and ball punch kovalev lol

Regardless that is the fight that the boxing world wants to watch and Canelo is the only one impeding that it happens. Maybe some Saudi money should get thrown in the mix.
dont think so. people still know floyd ducked margarito even though marg lost a couple fights along the way. the ducking of the #1 guy to fight guys like sharmba mitchell, zab coming off a loss to bumdomir, and bumdomir all for less money, and then retiring said it all. even when floyd had the chance to redeem himself and figth marg coming off a great win over cotto...he didnt want it. floyd wasnt even able to fight a shot margarito like pac and cotto to try and fool boxrec tardos "look i proved i was better derp!" canelo just has to pretend benavidez doesnt exist and he has to hope benavidez moves up or loses so he can get out of this stressful situation. it wont excuse the ducking of course but it will make him feel more secure like when marg got ko'd by mosley. floyd announces "im back!" if an old guy ko's benavidez...canelo announces IM FIGHTING THE OLD GUY LMAO

It's funny, ironic and sad that for years mexicanos and chicanos celebrated how tough our fighters were, how they werent scared to fight whoever, how they'll take on all comers.
Now there's a section who sit here with their skirts pulled up trying to make reasons why Saul shouldn't fight David. We went from ATG Mexican fighters who threw down with whoever to a cherry picking Alvarez. What a shame

i think most people who are given that platform and power will inevitably choose the easy path and self preservation. guys like floyd, canelo, and tank are the norm or the new norm. they know they dont have to take risks and can still rack in the accolades and money. thats also why we are seeing guys fighting into their late 30's or even 40s. its easier to keep winning when you have ultimate cherry picking power, and you also have fewer tough fights to wear you down. if canelo had fought prime ggg 3 times, beterbiev, and benavidez he probably would be out of boxing by now and he doesnt want that because this is his entire identity and persona, however manufactured and hollow it is. he parades around as "great boxer" man when in reality hes just pretty good but i bet it feels good that a large swath of people consider him some kind of boxing god.

By the time Canelo's career will be over , he will still be inducted in the Hall of Fame as one of greatest Mexican fighters to ever do it. As fans, we all want the Benavidez fight, but it won't "tarnish" his image as much as Ward thinks

Some people didn't get HBO or Showtime and they may know.

Andre Ward fought in a last man standing tournament for 168lb supremacy. He fought prime Froch, Kesssler,Allen Green and Edison Maranda before moving up to beat Dawson then unbeaten Rodriguez. I believe it was just his 3rd fight at 175 that he took on the one guy that Beterbiev, Bivol and Superman Stevenson refused to fight but yup, yeah... Wards a bum.

hmm i dont know. when a fighter blatantly ducks other fighters, it makes people wonder if they really are all that great or if it was just clever matchmaking all along. and if you add in the dubious decisions, being a ped cheat, etc...gives pause to call him a great fighter. i would say he still has a lot to prove given all those negatives, but instead of proving it, hes taking the easy route because he knows a lot of people will instinctually call him great no matter what he does going forward

dawson moved down to fight ward. ward ducked bute btw after the tournament to fight drained dawson and tried to fight a bunch of other bums. go look up dmitri sartison-ward and then look up why hbo kicked ward off their network. its great stuff. wards own promoter admits in court ward didnt want to fight the guys hbo wanted: ggg, bute, froch 2 and instead wanted easy fights.

also the tournament was rigged in wards favor from the start. ward refused to join unless he got all hometown fights, and we saw what happened in some of those...utter cheat fests against the likes of kessler and bika. they wanted ward to win the tournament so the rules were thrown out. its a shame bowe golota wasnt a heavy tourny fought in poland otherwise golota would have won it and he would have 2 ko wins over bowe lmao. great fighter right? oh wait ward is great because he got away with the cheating so its different. if you get caught cheating because you are the b-side you are a dirty cheat but if you make sure you are the a-side and refuse to fight unless you can cheat, you are great?

oh yeah and when he fought kovalev what happened there? clear win for kov and one of the worst robberies ever. 2nd fight he punched him in the balls the entire fight and wrestled the entire fight, check the rules both illegal and the fight was literally stopped on ball punches by the most corrupt ref in boxing named tony weeks who has been exposed as a yes man and a-side cum bucket. yeah great stuff there...its so weird that all of wards fights end in controversy this guy just cant catch a break huh? its almost as if...HES CHEATING AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT
