Jon Jones earns around $5 million per fight and came from a wrestling background.

Yeh and if he could box he’d earn 25M a fight.

why doesn’t he do what Ngannou did? He’d get ****ed up and he knows it.

That was a boxing match not a "striking" match, if it was a striking match it would have been kickboxing or muay thai rules.

Yes elite boxers are better at boxing than guys who are considered good at boxing in an MMA setting.

Why is there always this weird assumption that MMA fighters "on the street" are going to do ****ing double legs and arm bars and ****?

If you're getting your head stomped into the pavement on the ground in that situation its because there are multiple attackers, which means it isnt a "fight".

Actually the vast majority of MMA fighters are a master of one trade and well rounded enough to implement their strength. Another thing about fighting that you're clueless about.

but my point is that when it comes down to purely hand to hand striking (not kicks, knees, elbows) the boxer always wins
This is factually incorrect even in the limited sport of boxing itself.

I mean where was Ngannou's famous, bull rush attack that steamrolled everyone he's ever faced? It was nonexistence last night.
It worked well against Fury, the best HW of this generation. It didn't work against AJ, that's because styles make fights.

Joshua ended the debate and proved that Boxing is better than MMA striking, and that fight will now become a case study for future generations in all combat sports.
Joshua proved that boxers can sometimes beat MMA fighters under the limited rules of the sport of boxing. Congratulations.

Meanwhile a 17 year old high school wrestler would grab prime Mike Tyson, lift him up and throw him on a concrete floor ending his life instantly. Boxers are punchers, not fighters just remember that.

Because, again, like I said, he was from a wrestling background, and his boxing in MMA is not good. Unlike Ngannou who is from a boxing background, and wrecks people in MMA predominantly with boxing.

The "Jack of all trades" stuff gets way overplayed for sure. That UFC card tonight has a TKD olympic medallist, a high level karate guy, and an ADCC champion.

In a real street football game the 49ers would beat the Chiefs!

Not watched the clip yet but I hope he admitted to being wrong because he didn't give AJ much of a chance and was going on as if Ngannou would beat every heavyweight in a boxing ring.

Also in a real fight? Maybe and I can see that logic but what if the MMA guy gets punched in the face by a boxer in a real fight? It's most likely over at that stage so who really knows.

Seems like he's moving the goalposts; before the fight he didn't give AJ much of a chance in the ring and after the fight he's saying 'but he can't beat him in a real fight.' These MMA fans are funny, like the dude going on "yeah but AJ was really scared." Ngannou lost, end of story. It's not his sport, if it was in the octagon he would've likely won. It's not that hard to get your head around.

Edit: seems like these are old clips before the fight.

What people like Joe fail to realize is their street fight scenario doesn’t actually exist. There are rarely 1 on 1 street fights and if there are they don’t last long enough to go to the ground. This whole street fight ideal they have doesn’t actually exist.

For instance. If some MMA guy takes my friend to the ground I am stomping on his head until he stops fighting.
