Purse bid probably doesn't happen. Deal gets worked out hours before it's scheduled to take place.

Matchroom will probably overpay. Don't see many people bidding on it.

It should be worked out already. It feels like this match-up has been rumored for several months. This match-up isn't bigger now than it was before. Someone's holding out for more $$$, and SHO is no longer in the picture.

It's a different ball game now that Showtime is gone. You've seen the videos saying the fight will be on Canelo's undercard as soon as the IBF order was announced. Yet nothing is official, and we get announcement about the bidding, instead.

Is ProBox participating in the bidding?
            --------------

"The Ring has confirmed that the negotiation period for the ordered Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis-Cody Crowley welterweight title clash ended without a deal in place. The sanctioning body informed both camps and all IBF-registered promoters of a scheduled March 19 hearing, to be conducted via Zoom."

Wouldn't be a bad move if they did. I think they could win here. Win win situation for them.

That said when two guys from the same side of the street go to purse bid it typically means one of two things, one guy doesn't want the fight or the belt group is the last one to know that one or both of these guys are looking at different options.

And with Cody turning down $300k for this fight already (& me thinking he probably ain't getting $300k from a purse bid) & there having been speculation Boots vs Barrios is in talks & Barrios has nothing booked last I heard I'd personally be surprised if this fight even happens.

You're assuming the B-side, which is Crowley, is the only one asking for a big payday. Everything is relative. What may look big to one person may not be so to another. Would Ennis accept $350K, as an example, which is still huge compared to nothing?

If Cody was getting 300k I'm sure Boots was getting more than 350k, but I think either guy who thinks this fight is gonna get some crazy bid is just ******** on it to walk away after its proven it won't. Neither one of these guys sells tickets.

And odds are that wouldn't be the guy with a belt to lose for walking. If Cody finds out his % is 240k after the purse bid he can walk & hes still highly rated under other belts. If Boots finds out hes not getting a mill or something & walks then he loses his belt & he is right back to being a squirrel trying to get a nut like he was. It makes sense for Cody to gamble on it. Doesn't make sense for Boots to do so.

And sh^t if the % gets Cody the same $300k or more it was a gamble that paid off so fair play to him, but I'd bet if his % is less or not close to $300k he'll walk. Hell he might even walk at a higher amt idk but 300k is the lowest I'd expect him to not walk from.

Im not sure the cut so I'm not sure what a bid would be to make sense but I'll be curious to see how this shakes out.

Still not sure why Cody/Barrios isn’t happening. That was the fight promised to Cody when Barrios/Ugas went down. Which is why he turned down the Boots fight to begin with.

Belt groups are like the mafia. Their promises are never what they seem to be.
