Lol its baffling the hate the ginger gets ,Mungia is def not a walk in the park for any 68 pounder including both benavidez and morrell and hes also undefeated ,it kinda reminds me once the canelo-Bivol was announced, lot folks(mostly casuals) called it a cherrypick ,a mismatch some said Lol and look what happened. Jaime is as young and hungry as benavidez and lets not forget the ginger on his way out almost so I expect mungia to give him a good scrap.

Benavidez and Morrell would destroy Mungia within 6 rounds. He almost got stopped by 37 year old Devchenko for crying out loud.

Guys! Guys! This was a very well placed tactic. Canelo is the guy who decides who he fights, not promoters, not fans or organizations! He learned from Floyd and he has earn his stripes. Wasn’t Floyd Pacquiao the same record? How long did it take to happened? Better opponent than Charlo or Berdolaga!

It’s baffling how some will be ginger apologists when he weasels out of his PBC contract to avoid giving us fans the best fight to be made at 168. Many of us were happy to see him fight Bivol precisely because it was a risk and showed intestinal fortitude. Munguia will last the 12 rounds in a mismatch of talent and ring iq. He’ll walk onto crisp counters all night long. Meh…..his glossy record might fool lot folks(mostly casuals) but I ain’t buyin it.

Call me naive, but I truly believe Canelo will fight Benavidez in Sept. If Canelo was an American, I ll say he might could get away with it but being a mexican, those fan base are unforgiving and will crucify him if it doesn’t happen soon. Chavez, Marquez etc, all those Mexican legends are lighting a fire under him as well so it definitely has to happen soon. I think a part of him probably wants to let Benavidez steam for all his father’s talk. I think he ll do Munguia in May and Benavidez in Sept. Not to many big fight opponents left out there for him.

So he didn't want to fight him when they were on the same promotion and same division, but you think he will fight him now that he's left PBC and Benavidez is at 175. Ye that sounds logical.

El Bandera Rojas aka The Red Flag? I always thought that was a pretty original nickname. I always read that it means danger....

It may also be better than a Rocky Fielding Fight or Yildirim fight but it doesn't make it a good fight. Not for Canelo at this stage of his career and for the money he gets paid.

There's nothing to commend Canelo for in picking this fight... Another tactical opponent selection - they've obviously noticed Munguia is open for counters and has been hurt numerous times in fights. This is typical Canelo. All he does is look for signs of aging or weaknesses in fighters before revealing who the next fight is. He got it badly wrong with Bivol but is only seeing Benavidez merking guys with no noticeable flaws at the moment so is staying well away. Absolute coward.

Canelo is a paper champion. Everyone knows the real champions at 168lbs are Benavidez and Morrell.
