I got to go with Chavez but Canelo has accomplished a lot. If he did fight and beat Benavidez soundly, the case becomes stronger. I'm a big Chavez fan. So it's hard for me to rank Canelo above him. But it's not impossible. I think he just needs to do more. But he's probably second on the Mexican list for me and I love Morales and Barrera. They're probably 3 and 4. Sanchez was outstanding but his life was cut too short to know how great he would have been.

I like to enjoy too. But I can't watch canelo vs ryder, british tour, two division inactive champion, while he ignored benavidez and Morrell Jr. Great people do great things, great boxers fight and beat great boxers like themselves. Who has ginger beat to call him great?

He didn't beat him, he was robbed and he was past his prime. Why are you in denial?

          Except he wasn't robbed.

By the way, this question might not be related to the thread, but why does Roberto Duran of all people back Canelo?

He stated that Canelo is going to be remembered as a greater fighter than Chavez Sr, but it's not like Julio and Roberto have a sour relationship or anything of the like. Just seems odd that a fighter who was willing to fight anyone is okay with a fighter that selectively chooses his opposition.

He mentioned in a interview months ago in November 2023 (the interviewer brought up Canelo vs Crawford), that because of his heritage on his father side, he is unable to critize Canelo as the reason, but that doesn't seem to be a solid argument to me. Why does Duran have too high expectations for him? Is he invested business wise?

No one talks highly of any boogeyman
Just squawking about why hasn't Nelo fought one of them yet.

Boogey fans are too embarrassed to say their guy has no meaningful W's
                Slide into deflection mode.

A name doesn't make the fighter, though its nice to have other greats as opponents to stamp the history books, but overall you have look at the entire career and watch them fight to decide for yourself , great is a subjective term, Ive seen a lot of fighters in 60 years in my book Canelo is a great fighter as is GGG, I don't really care to much about fan stuff, just on pure boxing I think they make it into the great category no problems at all.

                      What a clown

I'd give you context (which you chose to ignore) but it'd be too much to "unpack"
