I believe you are right. Jones depended on his speed and athleticism, and was a naturally aggressive fighter, who undoubtedly would leave a few openings during a fight. Byrd was heavier, and naturally more evasive.Chris Byrd had fought in the heavyweight division for a few years, so was used to fighting big men. He was also a good 15-20lbs heavier than the Jones who fought Ruiz. Byrd also showed that he had a decent chin, and a big heart. Jones could have done the same thing to Tua as Byrd did, bit I don't think he could have done it for 12 rounds.
Still, it's never going to be known how good Jones' chin would have been at 200 lbs. when in his prime.
All in All, he was an amazxing boxer.Comment
