I think he might have been able to do well. The issues he had with his fights back down at LHW had a lot to do with him having to lose muscle to get back down to 175. That is a lot of muscle to cut off and at his age, it took a while to get back used to the weight. Tarver found the same thing out the hard way after he bulked up to star in that joke of a movie.
Vitali was the mandatory for Jones's title after he defeated Ruiz. Roy also was claiming to be seriously considering fighting Sanders which would've been wiser (in hindsight) then going back down to LHW and fighting Tarver. Getting KTFO against Vitali or Sanders wouldn't have had nearly as much of a negative effect on his legacy as getting knocked out against Tarver did...

roy messed up.
he should have just fought holyfield (winnable by that time) or tyson (like getting koed by tyson would have hurt his legacy) for like $20 million and retired.
i would have bought a tyson-jones or even tyson-holyfield ppv.
there is no dis*****g that Jones' career topples that of Tua's. Although put them in a ring together, and there is very little chance for Jones to beat Tua.
