Come on everyone, let's all chip in and give Keith Thurman a nice, undeserved retirement check!

Yeah, but Keith started his career above welterweight and didn't work down to actually making 147 until his 11th fight.

He's not some little guy that started out lower and grew into welterweight, which is why he was one of the bigger punchers in the division.

Looking at Boxrec Keith has had 17 fights above 147, and 14 at 147 or below.

To be clear - I really like Tszyu - he's doing what few guys in his position do. Fu_ck Charlo's ***** ass for running from him.

But I also have always rated Thurman higher than most people on NSB. I had similar, albeit likely lesser, elbow injuries to his and let me tell you: when your arm is ****ed like that, you aren't lifting. You aren't training. And you damn sure aren't throwing punches. And once you can do those things, it is a LONG road to getting back to feeling anywhere near 100%. Years, not months.

So for me, Thurman taking years out of the ring and passing on opportunity after opportunity wasn't as annoying as it was to some posters.

Yet Ellerbe also said Tank would KO Thurman. He doesn't find that disrespectful.

He's fought at SWW more times than he's fought at WW.

Oh I see your point. I thought you were arguing he'd be adjusted to the power at 154. Yeah, Keith was always a big WW

He's coming out in his defense because he sees them losing money on this pay per view if everyone considers it a mismatch. Only covering the a**.
