LMAO, Protecting Black Cherrypickers didn't have the money to pay Canelo so he split. They want him on that platform, they need to pay him. They sure as sh.it paid Gayweather well when he fought scrubs like Ghost Guererro, Ortiz and Berto.Comment

No where near those guys at this time. His resume is pretty weak tbh. Not his fault but imo would need to beat a couple big time opponents like Plant and Munguia or fight Benevidez. Don’t think he deserves to get a Canelo fight at this time. He does look like he he can rule the division eventually when Canelo retires and Benevidez needs to move up.Comment

I'm NOT cool with him fighting Berlanga in May! I support my NYC fighters getting the bag, but Berlanga is nowhere near as ready to fight Canelo, as Benavidez and Morrell Jr.! Even Crawford had a better chance of beating Canelo than Berlanga! If Canelo is not fighting Benavidez or Morrell Jr. in September, it's time for him to be stripped!!!
How is Morrell more ready to fight Canelo than Berlanga? He has half as many pro fights and far less amateur fights. They are the same age.
I think Crawford would have beaten Canelo and Benavidez would be a 50/50 fight.Comment

And how do you know this? He doesn’t seem to be making money with PBC, and in all likelihood he’s lost a huge amount of money. The hedge fund he blew through with time buys and regular tv channels (ABC, NBC etc), didn’t work and cable and Showtime failed also. So he really has been a disappointment as a boxing advisor. He made his money managing musicians years ago and he doesn’t do that anymore.Comment

While I agree Berlanga is an unproven fighter. He is 26 years old, he's 22-0 and he's had over 180 amateur fights. He's ranked in the top ten in each of the sanctioning bodies. He's also asking for this fight. If he passes it up, he won't be offered this opportunity again. Every fighter wants the big money fight and this is as big as it will get for Berlanga. He also doesn't want to risk losing to a Munguia, Benavidez or Morrell while trying to gain more experience.

IMO Benavidez pummels Saul and Crawford beats him in a UD with a possible stoppage.
People have been saying for years that Canelo is past it and he is, he knows he is, and there is no argument that he is ducking the best comp. And he is only 33, he isn't old yet. Alot of wear and tear, alot of hype that he ever was some kind of phenom, etc. He just needs to vacate and fight who he wants and let the younger guys fight for the belts. It is not only obvious what he is doing at this point, but embarrassing for him and his fans.Comment

It doesn't make sense that Canelo is so fixated on fighting Jermall . Jermall might as well be retired for all that he's done the last few years. Canelo is just using Jermalls name to justify not fighting anyone more dangerous, which right now is pretty much anyone with a pulse. Canelo is turning out to be a real pendejo.Comment

The Canelo circus continues. I get that every fighter wants that Canelo fight $, but ALL these guys who are saying they should get a fight with Canelo - Berlanga, Munguia, Crawford, Charlo? - need to say "I want that fight, but there is nobody in the division more worthy than David Benavidez. Canelo needs to fight him next to keep whatever respectability boxing has left."
The pressure on Canelo to fight Benavidez NEXT - NO ONE ELSE - needs to be cranked "up to 11" from every boxer to every sports writer to every boxing analyst to every promotor to every boxing fan saying in unison:
CANELO: FIGHT BENAVIDEZ NEXT OR VACATE THE BELTS.
There is no debate. It's crystal clear.Comment
