You are arguing semantics, both you and I know Casamayor was not campaigning as a 135lb fighter at the time he signed to move up against Castillo.
Leija and Molina were.
Look at it this way
Castillo's wins:
Stevie Johnston (2-time WBC lightweight champion)
Cesar Bazan (former WBC lightweight champion)
Joel Casamayor (former WBA super featherweight and future WBC & Ring Magazine lightweight champion)
Julio Diaz (future IBF lightweight champion)
Juan Lazcano (top 3 lightweight contender)
Mosley's wins:
Phillip Holiday (unbeaten IBF lightweight champion)
Jesse James Leija (former WBC super featherweight champion)
John John Molina (former IBF super featherweight champion)

Even without Casamayor and Mayweather, Castillo's record is still better. That's how weak Mosley's lightweight resume is.

The difference is that Castillo fought Casamayor at 135. That's why it counts.

Man, sorry, I don't mean to be rude but don't you damn well get it?
Mosley doesn't have very good fighters on his resume AT LIGHTWEIGHT! Yes, he beat WW's but at 147 not 135. No one else gets ranked for their wins at other weights.
Castillo beat the much better fighters at 135, not 130, 147, 200. At lightweight!!!!!
What Mosley did apart from his 135 days was great but it doesn't effect his standing at 135 for his resume as a lightweight wasn't as good as Castillo. Rold didn't rate Castillo at LW because of his near win over Mayweather. He rated him above Mosley because he beat many more champions and greater lightweight fighters than Mosley.
You ask why doesn't Mosley get credit for his wins at 147? Well, isn't it obvious!!! Because they're at 147! Castillo beat Casamayor at 135. Casamayor was and became a great lightweight and they fought AT LIGHTWEIGHT!
Argh!
Anyway.....look. HIs rankings are very good and thought out an they are also consistent. You can't rank a guy based solely on his arguable skill if he doesn't show it against great opposition. Castillo beat very good, skillful fighters. How would Mosley have looked against the very awkward southpaw Casamayor? We don't know because he never fought anyone that good and all the guys he did beat were not nearly as good as Casa.
Castillo proved he was a better lightweight because he fought the better guys and beat them. He actually did it! He proved it by getting in the ring and beating them, Mosley didn't and his resume there is not that good. I think there are a lot of other lightweights that could be above Mosley and showed brilliant skill along with a much better resume at 135 then does Mosley. Rold put him at 25 mainly because you could say, arguably, he would have beaten lots of good guys there. He didn't though, so you have no idea how he would do against a great boxer or someone that could hang with him and outbox him. What if he'd fought the LW version of Forrest?
Man......
I think you mentioned Duran somewhere. People don't rank him as the best lightweight for his wins over Leonard, Palomino etc. They do so because he has one of the greatest 135 title run and resumes ever.
He is considered the best 135 guy because he beat a lot of great fighters at lightweight not somewhere else, he unified, fought everyone and beat them. His WW wins and above make him rate highly P4P but they don't effect his LW standing.
It's like Pac. Is he a better 126 fighter than Marquez? Hell no. He did FA there and did hardly anything at most other weights too, but he is very high P4P.Last edited by BennyST; 02-21-2010, 05:33 AM.
