I believe there was a picture floating around of the HBO tale of the tape but I couldn't find it.

Mosley's stay at 135 remains questionable. Having ended his amateur career 7 years ago at 139 pounds, his continued presence in the lightweight division has become a dangerous game. To sc**** down to 135, Mosley had not eaten a solid meal for three days prior to the bout, as well as spent excessive time dehydrating himself to the bone to make weight. Having somehow scaled in at 135, Mosley put pack on 16 pounds in 24 hours, and came through the ropes tonight over the welterweight limit, at 151 pounds.

A win over... Casamayor? The man who moved up from 130 just for the fight?

It seems to me his only legitimate wins at 135 are Juan Lascano and Stevie Johnston...

Or are you rating him on your perceived trouncing of Floyd Mayweather, whom I agree he beat the first time, but on your criteria of resume... that would be a skill assessment...
Good job...move the straw man...decide you didn't want to argue Rob anymore? Smart move.

I've been over this...there is room for skill but I slant to resume first. Castillo's was better, considerably. You've made no argument to the contrary. Feel free to disagree.

Honestly, I don't buy that article at all. And from a strictly Medical standpoint, if it is true. Mosley would have been in no condition to fight, much less win.

16lb is 2 gallons of water. There is no way he shed that much weight. Perhaps he stepped on the unofficial scales wearing 5lb of gold, 4 lb of cloths, and 5 ounces of coke.

Seriously though, I don't believe that story even a little bit. 16lb is 2 gallons of water he drained from his body.

To put that into perspective, The average man has 1.2 gallons of blood. So not only would Shane have had to lose the equivalent of every ounce of blood in his body in fluids, but then he would have to find 8/10th of a gallon extra to lose... Something the size of Paul Williams, I can buy that. Someone the size of Shane Mosley... No.

My whole point in bringing up Robinson was in showing the inconsistent means by which you rate fighters.

            It was on HBO.

He is not the only man to have put on 15+ pounds after a weigh-in. It's common practice these days. Check out how much weight Joshua Clottey put on when he fought Diego Corrales, or Arturo Gatti when he fought Joey Gamache.

Mosley was a huge lightweight who was more suited to fight at welterweight. All evidence seems to point out that way.

There is no inconsistency in his ratings. He rates fighters based on their record at the weight. Mosley doesn't have the record at lightweight to be ranked any higher than he is.

Fighters also step on the scales wearing clothes, shoes, hats, jackets, ***elry. That all adds up in the weight department.

If you need a more credible source:

"Arum has made an offer to Mosley to fight Mayweather at a weight of 137 pounds. But the 27-year-old Mosley has outgrown the 135-pound division and has been struggling to make the weight. He was dehydrated against John Brown in his last fight in April in which Mosley stopped Brown. Even though he got down to 135 pounds at the weigh-in for the fight, he ballooned to 151 pounds by the time he entered the ring."

Either way it's still fairly obvious that he was draining himself to make the 135 lb limit.

It is insistent to base ranking on record, then modify the record as you see fit, saying... oh, I thought he won this fight, or I am not giving him credit because I thought he really lost this fight. That is introducing personal bias.

So we end up with Castillo having

                      Julio Diaz
                      Juan Lazcano
                      Stevie Johnston

                      Where as Shane Mosley has

                      Jesse James Leija
                      John John Molina
                      Phillip Holiday
                      26-0 Eduardo Morales

I am not including Joel Casamayor as he moved up from 130lb for the fight

I fail to see the significant edge for Castillo.
