How do you compare Bud as the best of this era to Mayweather the best of last era?

Bud and Floyd have beaten everyone they faced. The posters that hate this throw out guys they didn’t fight and elevate them way above the level they are just to say either would lose.

It’s sad that this is how fans of the sport conduct themselves.

Pretty much everyone would agree that Floyd beat more top level opponents than Crawford, and the various stats and achievements back up that he had a superior career. Floyd's era was stronger, and he fought in 2 more divisions.

I would say though that Crawford had less opportunity to prove his greatness. A lot of fights just weren't there for him and he was high risk/low reward for everyone. Whereas with Floyd, once he became a big star he could usually get the opponent he wanted when he wanted because he was offering them a career-high payday.

People acting like Bud was the one ducking now?

Next you're going to be saying that the "wrong side of the street" crap was his fault. Even if he WERE a PBC fighter, how often do PBC fighters actually fight at all, let alone each other? They're all very inactive. I don't think there's any guarantee that if Bud had signed with PBC that he'd have gotten the fights anyways. They'd probably have run for DAZN.

Boxing "fans" just love to hate on people who have accomplished something.

If you want to do this topic justice, you look at the skills they displayed, and use opponents primarily to assess how they'd adapt to the challenges posed. At the very least you could look at how they responded to getting caught clean by opponents with power, how often that happened, etc, in what circumstances they were able to alter the narrative of a fight, etc.

I'm not totally convinced it would be that good of a fight for the fans unless it were Pretty Boy Floyd, because defensive master Money May fighting on the outside against counterpuncher Bud could be very slow paced and technical. Might look a lot like Shakur v DLS.

Both underwhelming. Boxing is in better shape when its number one fighter isn't an arrogant, money obsessed American.

Definitely the same mentality. Jones s**** on both of them and he had a similar mentality lol.

These undefeated records we're seeing more of now are misleading too. If you fight infrequently and use cynical opponent selection you obviously have a far greater chance of remaining undefeated.

Also, the worse judging becomes, people have to watch the fights. One of the reasons guys like Ward and Jones deserve mad props is not WHo they beat, but HOW they beat them. yes every fighter gets a gift, or three, the Kovalev fights aside... But Ward and Jones usually dominated the opponents they beat. Beating James Toney by a contraversal decision is totally different than what Jones did to Toney, ditto for Ward who did not simply win a tournament involving the best at Super Middle Weight, but as an underdog, he never came close to losing a match.

These fiats are clues to greatness, much more so than undefeated records imo.
