    Look at Saul's resume.
Who's holding him to a higher standard? Plenty of people think Bud is an inactive, over hyped US fighter.

I think "owes" is a strawman. It's not a word I've seen even his most strident critics use.

Canelo claims to be the undisputed champion in his division, he has an obligation to face his TBRB #1 and WBC mandatory next.

Or retire and fight exhibitions or something. Pretty simple from my point of view.

MoonCheese - do you feel Canelo undermines your argument for the necessity of sanctioning bodies? Seems like they become the toothless "lineal" title once a fighter achieves a certain level of commercial power.

He doesn’t want any part of the Russian light heavy bivol who offered to come down to super middle. This is canelo’s MO. He ducks until he has an advantage. Honestly I wish he would just retire, he’s bankrupting networks and promotions and his fights don’t do the business the boxing media or his nationalist Mexican American fanbase claim they do. Money wasted on him would be better spent making 10-20 excellent cards

Wait for it. His loyalists will be coming for you. How dare you point out facts?

I’ve rooted for Canelo since forever but the man’s real claim to ATG status is cleaning up a weak 168 Ibs division. He then gets beat by Bivol easily and when Bivol offers to drop to 168 for the rematch which is something unheard of, Canelo refuses, knowing full well that he will lose the leverage he has … unified division champion moniker.

The kicker is that Canelo does not need belts to make fights. He can fight anyone he chooses.

At this point, I even think Caleb Plant beats Canelo if a rematch happens.

So we're going to pretend like Boots Ennis isn't the best matchup out there for Bud?

              Ok.

As long as they're consistent, but that's not the case with many.

Fans owe nothing to fighters who cherry pick so just boycott their ppv fights.

I blame Mayweather for this, Canelo said they learned a lot about business from Mayweather. Mayweather never gave us what we wanted. Pretty Boy did fight some tough fighters but Money gave 2 ****s about us.

It's true, that Canelo doesn't owe us anything, and he's proven he's no coward! However, just vacate the WBC SMW Title! To hold the title hostage, is a VERY BAD thing to do to the sport, but I blame the WBC, more than Canelo for that! If Canelo fights Charlo, I would be highly disappointed, because Charlo has been VERY inactive! If he fights Crawford, I'M ALL IN!!! Again though, if he's fighting back-to-back fights, one with a 154 Champ, and the next with the 147 Champ, just vacate the belt @ 168, so Benavidez gets his shine!!!
