Sanchez and Zhang are a hard day's work for any heavyweight. But Jared has youth on his side and those big men are older. He could be something in a couple of years. I think Anderson's speed, work rate, punch selection, and overall skill would be too much for Ajagba now, though.
If he was that athletic and explosive, why is he not fighting a better grade of opponent yet? He seems fragile mentally.Comment

Hmmmmm.
Anyway, the kid is 23. 23 year olds think they know everything, but never know much.
He's still developing and has already been in tough, and his next opponent is the perfect level.
It's too early to say how far he can go, and those expressing some special insight are pretending.
He's on the right track and he certainly has ability.Comment

That being said, if he doesn't get a real step up in competition for his next fight the criticisms could be warranted. Then again, look at Frank Sanchez (same dimensions, btw as Jared). He's 31 with 25 fights and the only somewhat respectable names he's fought are Ajagba and Junior Fa.

Well, first off he's only 23 and has 16 fights. Secondly, yesterday I watched ProBoxTV's youtube post and they discussed Jared. Tim Bradley - who working for ESPN had some inside knowledge of the situation - gave some info. Check out the video starting at 18:15. Basically, Tim said this next fight is a "stay busy fight coming off an injury". Didn't say what the injury was (mental?). He said they reached out to King Kong Ortiz, but he supposedly wanted too much money. Then they tried to get Tom Schwarz (definitely not a world beater), but he can't get permission to come to the US.

I think Anderson has some legal problems. Someone I know in the Akron area said he got caught with a firearm in his car.Last edited by BlackRobb; 02-20-2024, 11:02 PM.Comment

And, he has a fight coming up, so hopefully that got or is getting resolved.Comment

I hope so for his sake. Ohio is a red state, meaning the court system isn't always favorable for Black men. I hope he clears it up. The guy he's fighting is pretty decent.Comment

I did a quick search and found this:
Published: 7:48 PM EST December 1, 2023
"OREGON, Ohio — Toledo boxer Jared Anderson was convicted of a misdemeanor gun charge Friday as part of a plea deal he took following his arrest for drunken driving in November.
Anderson, an undefeated heavyweight whose star is rising in the ring, pleaded no contest to an amended charge of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. He was fined $200 and given a 180-day suspended sentence at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio contingent on him not committing a similar offense within one year."

So, DD is the real issue. That's not a good sign. I guess Roy's talk with him didn't sink in. Maybe that incident finally woke him up.Comment

Bomac getting off that charge in the UK was an absoloute madness, if that had been a regular British person they'd be doing the 10 years minimum no questions asked but that judge just absoloutley loved Bomac, he could not say enough good stuff about him lol.Comment
