Sure travel is tough but if anyone could use that as an excuse it’s Parker. Not many fighters have to travel like him being from NZLD. Maybe 1 round in 2 years before a fight with an active top 10 HW was the reason? Instead of making excuses again why don’t you just get back in the gym, have a few good camps preparing for a couple rebuilding fights like Parker & Joshua did before getting back in the mix late in 2024 or early 2025? Why cry like a baby? It is no secret to any fighter or fan that inactivity can be a real detriment so accept your defeat & mistakes like a man & get back to work.

That's why you arrive 2 weeks ahead to adjust to the climate n time zone. Wilder threw so few punches(in a boxing match) it's no excuse unless you tore your rotator cuff, threw your arm out of socket ext something where your physically hindered from using your arm.

This is why I always liked Parker when many others were not so keen on him. He mostly fought in NZLD coming up but had a few fights in the US, Somoa & Germany. Burger King was his sponsor but the size of the events were limited capacity. He beat some name journeymen like Botha, Nascimento, Minto, Shermin Willians, Pettaway, Saglam Tupou Meehan & Bergman. He them stepped up won a WBO eliminator over Takam followed by wins over Haumono & Dimitrenko.
He got his title fight & won a close decision over Ruiz but that was as far as it was going in NZLD because he struggled to get funding for that fight. His first & last title defence on home soil was against the undeserving Cojanu but that had a lot to do with his promoter having no money for a bigger event.
The Hughie Fury fight was supposed to land there but with lack of funding from the NZLD gov’t & Peter Fury’s ban from entry they moved it to the UK. He then lost back to back big money fights in the UK to Joshua & Whyte. He earned somewhere near 20 million for the 2 fights. He had 4 rebuilding fights but after the Fa win he parted ways with his trainer as they agreed they had gone as far as they could.
He had 2 wins over Chisora then lost to Joyce in a tough fight. He then rebuilt & got in great shape leading up to Wilder & he won. He is now fighting another top dog in Zhang. If he beats Zhang he will have beaten the #1 ranked fighter in 2 governing bodies.
Twice in Parker’s career he was willing to take a step back & slowly rebuild his career setting himself up for big fights. He is only 31 & is in great position for another run at a title. After the losses to Joshua & Whyte he started over. Even though he beat Fa he decided changes were needed. Got himself great position & lost to Joyce for the WBO top spot. Took a year of rebuilding fights to set up the Wilder fight. Now he is in the same position he was in going into the Joyce fight. A win over Zhang & he is either the mandatory for the WBO as interim champ or he becomes full champ if the belt becomes vacant. Taking time to rebuild has paid off & Wilder should consider the same path in 2024. Joshua did the same thing as Parker in 2023 & I expect him to smash Ngganou. Joshua is building some good momentum like Parker. Taking a step back really helped Parker & Joshua. Joyce & Wilder should do the same. Although I think Joyce could have stepped in with someone better than Kash Ali.Last edited by joe strong; 02-14-2024, 05:40 PM.Willow The Wisp

A bum like Joe Joyce was able to beat Parker to pulp. Its surprising the same Parker beats Wilder. I was rooting for Wilder to win. However Parker showed up good game plan but cant digest the fact if this was same Parker with Joyce
