I think it ended 54-51 punches landed with Ortiz having the edge
When I saw what Ortiz’s gameplay was , I figured oh well Teo will chop that body , slow him down , cut the ring wtv but instead I saw a guy who has problems performing the basics in boxing
I’m not one to say that task would be easy but then I could see him getting the upper hand
Ortiz came and did his thing whether it was nice or not , he stuck to his plan
Ok, I keep hearing that same rationale, that “Ortiz had a plan and he stuck to it,” so he wins. My problem with that is that his plan was to avoid a fight. This is the very top level of the sport, and he did not want to fight. This man can never be a world champion in this sport.

I can respect that as long as you agree that Teo is not any better
If you don’t stand in front of him chances are he’s lost the fight

Leonard didn't fight like that against Hearns in the first fight, the rematch with Duran, or the Hagler fight?

We are talking about the same "Sugar" Ray Leonard here? It doesn't look like it to me.

Lara, Bivol, Plant when he wasn't tired, Saunders, Charlo etc etc

That's how it's obvious. It's why i asked you to give me a fight where he was able to cut off the ring in a competent manner against a proper opponent. It's well known that Canelo is poor at cutting off the ring.

Never once have i been unable to back anything i claim. Not once. Deluding yourself isn't evidence in any way. It's why you wouldn't be able to point out a single time it's happened. I don't deflect either. So how can it be a consistent thing? Where is the lack of this supposed energy? Look up gaslighting and delusion by it's definition. Then look at what you've just written.

Oh, by the way. What i meant with Canelo being able to do so against certain fighters was due to Canelo sabotaging his opponents all the time to make sure they're at their worst. Do you need me to give the mass of opponents he's done this against as well?

Kovalev drained by contract, not having any rest and only weeks to prepare. Fielding Drained by contract. Smith being ducked until the Ryder fight then only given 3 weeks preparation to make sure he was crippled. Charlo out for 16 months and 2 weight classes smaller when he has fighters his own weight there to fight. Do i need to go on?

Your way of thinking is why so many casual fans think Floyd Ali Sweet Pea Leonard etc are runners, they automatically see the style as running, some do but not the greats they beat the sht out of you with their defence while youre swinging at air, there is all grades that go along with a style, Ortiz only had to have more offensive spurts to get a clear win, they penalized him for doing nothing offensive while Teo was chest-beating because Ortiz wouldn't fight him, the judges were swayed by all the dramatics and little action.

I don't think fighters who use the ring are runners. That's a major part of boxing. I'm just pointing out to the other poster that it was ironic that he would put up the Leonard fight with Duran as as an example of what boxing SHOULD be like without understanding how Leonard went about the rematch with Duran.

I don't discriminate against those who have natural flow and rhythm to their boxing so need to move. I do like them to be active enough though with their punching. But i did have Ortiz winning by 3 on my card. I penalised a couple of rounds for not doing enough punching. But he still won.
