Ortiz easily outboxed Lopez, in a boxing match. Lopez lost. He knew it too, he cried after winning because he knew that he just lost again.
Lopez isn't a good boxer. He is a great athletic fighter with great reflexes who hits really hard. He doesn't know how to cut off the ring, he doesn't know how to adjust tactics, he doesn't understand alot of basic stuff. And he isn't even really slick.
He literally relies on his power and reflexes, he doesn't really seem to even understand much fundamentally about boxing. Which is pretty impressive. But the whole "Teo is crazy, it depends on which Teo shows up" is BS. He just isn't a good boxer, but his athleticism and power are so impressive that it makes people forget that.
I think his career will be short lived.Comment

Pep, Sadler, Grebb, Basilio, Fullmer, Conn, Armstrong, Walcott, Charles, Graziano, Zale, Louis, Schmeleng, Baer etc etc we’re all born and fought well before most of us were born. Just a suggestion, watch some YouTube videos of the greats of the past. You will truly appreciate the sport so much more than just having watched the last 15 years or so. I mean you have really missed out of legendary greatness when the sport was on top of the worldComment

Man Teo is such an anomaly. He either looks elite like against Loma and Taylor or he looks B level in fights against lesser guys like Kambosas, Martin, and Ortiz.Comment

Ortiz dictated the terms of the engagement. He had Teo whiffing wildly all fight. Fight was a low volume stinker because he controlled the fight all night. If he had been punching more, that would have been an easy win for him. Good cardio at least. I don't know how Teo wins that, let alone 117-11. Maybe that none of Ortiz's punches felt significant, so the judges just ignored them? I picked him for the upset, and we certainly saw that Teo isn't even remotely supremely skilled. He's downright awful at cutting off the ring. He was chasing a KO and every time someone doesn't want to step to him and he's chasing KO's, you get a fight like this with him.Comment

I’ll overlook you taking about the skill level of pep and others because you just don’t know what you have missed. I’ll let you in a little secret, Pep could win rounds by standing right in front of you and not letting you land one shot the entire round. His skill level was that high. And he and Saddler engaged in warfare the likes of which I promise you cannot even fathom and back when they fought 15 rounds of fury….and had over 100 fights as champs. I get it, you’re very young and you’re into the whole machismo thing. But let the desire for an online image go and just enjoy the sport’s rich history, you’ll be happy you did. True boxing fans know boxing history, period.Comment

They both deserved to lose. They sure did not do boxing any favors on this big stage either. The best part of the fight was Teofimos ring walk . If I never see Ortiz "fight" again , it will be too soon.
I wish that boxing people would quit bestowing PREMATURE GREATNESS on fighters. It used to be that it took more than one or two big wins to be considered great.Comment

All these dudes in here talking about Ortiz running don't know ish about boxing. It's hit and don't get hit. Ortiz boxed brilliantly, had Lopez turning in circles all night looking for one big shot. All that pressure Lopez put on barely amounted to anything and looked lost the whole way thru. But judges always penalize a guy just bc he's on the backfoot and not making it a firefight. It's boxing, not fighting. Ortiz shoulda had this one or at least a draw.Comment
