this just came to me but malignaggi was like the rolly romero of last era. untalented bum who kept getting title shots for no apparent reason, gift decisions, big talker, etc...

Comparing him to Rolly is pretty harsh. Love his obnoxious Jersey Shore guido schtick or not, Paulie was a measurably better fighter than Romero. He was a multi-wieght world champion with some pretty good wins (Juan Diaz, Judah, Senchenko) and most of his losses were against top-tier guys in their primes.
