So what you're saying is that he can't even half fill his home town venue in a fight this big? Yeah massive fan base... When he was calling out Calzaghe he wasn't even filling the York hall.

UK TV won't even pick up his fights, theres more coverage of Nathan Cleverly in the press.

As with Witter his attitude just turns off the British boxing public.

He was making an amusing retort. Something 99% of you won't do in your whole lives.

Anyway, hoping for a great fight. Also, LMFAO at people saying Froch is untested. At the end of the day:

        Froch UD Pascal (WBC LHW)
Froch KTFO Taylor (Former lineal MW champ)

He must be doing something right....
People around here like to take things out of context. I think its a combinations of hate and a lack of literacy.
Froch is a cool guy, people should lay off him for the Calzaghe stuff. He was just trying to land a fight.

What are you talking about with this 'can't half fill the venue' and 3 men and a dog' crap?

Froch would be on TV if he was signed with Warren, but then again if he was signed by Warren he'd probably never be allowed to enter the Super Six, and there'd still be very little public interest.

You seem to be projecting quite a bit by blaming his lack of popularity on his attitude. His situation is the norm for top British boxers, not the exception. Or do you think they were filling Wembley for the likes of Richie Woodhall, Glenn Catley and Robin Reid?

To be honest, even though Calzaghe would blatantly sell more tickets than Froch now. At 25-0, Joe was barely known globally and probably couldn't sell as many tickets as Carl.

At 25-0 Calzaghe was fighting Robin Reid in front of 13k people at the telewest arena and it was back page news actually.

I was a Reid nuthugger back then and Calzaghe was certainly well known for his win over Eubank for a start.

exactly, peple need to remember calzaghe was big at age 33 when he schooled lacey, thats what propelled him to super stardom...froch has just turned 32 and is getting more recognition imo..

and now he has this super 6 tournament which i thinks going to be the most significant thing in boxing history...he could surpass calzaghe...

PLus froch is a young 32 year old, hardly been hit until he faced taylor and pascal plus hes onl had 25 fights...at age 30 hatten and calzaghe had almost twice that...

He was trying to land a fight with a guy who clearly didn't want to fight a nobody at that time. That same froch wanted to fight Calzaghe when Froch had fought nobody. He hadn't fought pascal or taylor yet he thinks Calzaghe should have fought him then? Then he hassles a fighter for going into retirement. Yeah, froch is such a great person not.

8,000 is a good draw, really. I agree.

People get the judgement clouded by guys like Hatton and Calzaghe's followings, which were ridiculous. Joe had the welsh angle, and Hatton basically alligned himself directly with Manchester City.

8,000 people is not to be sniffed at.

Look at a guy like Chad Dawson, he is a worldclass fighter and the man in his division, hyped by the American broadcasters and he'd love to be able to have 8,000 people turn out for him.

I know FFS! he can't do anything right. If he didn't call out Calzaghe everyone would have said he dodged him.

He called Taylor out, Taylor said only in my back garden....Froch said "OK" and knocked him the f**k out.

Give Froch some credit, at least he's chasing big fights instead of the ***** yanks avoiding them.
