He called Taylor out, Taylor said only in my back garden....Froch said "OK" and knocked him the f**k out.

Give Froch some credit, at least he's chasing big fights instead of the ***** yanks avoiding them.
He does seem like a weird bloke though.

If he hit you with his car, I'm not sure he'd stop.

People get the judgement clouded by guys like Hatton and Calzaghe's followings, which were ridiculous. Joe had the welsh angle, and Hatton basically alligned himself directly with Manchester City.

8,000 people is not to be sniffed at.

Look at a guy like Chad Dawson, he is a worldclass fighter and the man in his division, hyped by the American broadcasters and he'd love to be able to have 8,000 people turn out for him.
      Good post.

But it's terrible that Britain's only world title holder (albeit not a world champion in the true sense, but still, a world title holder who has the most prestigious of the belts) can't get any mainstream television coverage in the UK, especially after the Taylor fight.

Im afraid that I do agree with hammerhiem that his attitude and especially his constant bad mouthing of Calzaghe, including for several months after he'd retired, didn't help his cause and was very counter-productive.

Some people on here have a deep and irrational hate for Calzaghe, but he's rated among the top 5 British fighters of all time by most boxing experts, and to constantly try to downgrade the achievements of someone whom any true patriot would regard as a British sporting hero was a truly ****** thing to do - especially the fact that he continued to do that after Calzaghe had retired. I'm sure that's part of the reason why outside of Nottingham, his British following still isn't large enough to tempt any of the mainstream broadcasters to screen his fights.

It's a terrible shame though: he's an exciting fighter, and despite his limitations, he's a worthy title holder; and his attitude of always wanting to fight the best possible opposition is very refreshing. Maybe he needs a better promoter.

To be honest, British boxing is in decline.

British SPORT is in decline, outside SkyTV there is almost no sport availible to the general public.

If you want to watch top level sport you have to have access to Sky period.

the BBC's flagship sports programme (Grandstand) that 10 years ago was as good a sports programme as you could find in the world no longer exsists. the BBC has no interest in mainstream sports at all anymore.

the nation sports "flagship show" MOTD is show after the 10pm news and repeated at 7am the next day, so as not to interfere with such luminaries at Countryfile and repeats of meercat manor at prime time on Sunday.

oh but you can watch Gynastics or 3rd tier motoGP if you want.

UK TV won't even pick up his fights, theres more coverage of Nathan Cleverly in the press.

As with Witter his attitude just turns off the British boxing public.
You dont know what your talking about.

The Nottingham Arena will be full as usual, as for York Hall, last time i saw Carl fight there it was packed to maximum
