This new Saudi thing, it will have ripple effects on boxing for years. Hopefully they push through fights we want. If they make Bivol-Beterbiev then I will give them credit.

The negatives of this is that it creates unrealistic purse demands for boxers when they see this. AJ is never going to fight a Zhang when he can fight a cage fighter for 40 million for example. a lot of boxers will hold out hoping for a Saudi pay day and other promoters cant compete because they cant put on events at a loss like the Saudis can.

If they make Bivol-Beterbiev then I can forgive them for some of this, but not every fighter and every event can operate at a loss or be a Saudi fight

Great fight!! AJ stayed far away from these guys. He weaseled his way into a shot. lol
side note: this should be a very successful card and send a message to other promoters not to “marinate “ fights

I hereby officially nominate Turki Allashiki as KING OF BOXING . This guy makes fights that we want to see happen. Put him in charge of boxing for the sake of the sport.

This is an interesting fight. Both guys have their strengths and weaknesses. I'm not making a pick yet , this needs further study and review , but I sure am looking forward to it. If nothing else, it will be fan friendly.

Credit to both guys, especially Zhang for risking his title shot, and Parker for taking on the challenge that nobody else would.

This reminds me of Foreman/Frazier. I see Zhang in a blowout!

These guys are old school. ready to fight anybody. Zhang fought Hrgovic, Joyce twice, now he fights Parker.

Parker has already fought Ruiz, Joshua, Wilder, Whyte, Joyce, these are only top fights.

This reminds me on golden 70s when guys all fought each other.

Interim belts mean the guys who fight for the shot don't just have to wait years at the whim of someone like Tyson Fury.
Agreed, but those titles ultimately mean nothing. There is no practical difference between "interim" or "regular" champion and "No 1 ranked" or "first challenger in line". It seems to me that fake titles only serve to placate fighters who own them and get them to not push hard to get the shot at the real title. "Don't make a fuss, you do have a title..." And to get some more sweet, sweet sanctioning fees. Then again, I am naively thinking that a champion who holds a belt hostage should be stripped of it and hoping that it will become an enforced rule some day...

A huge, two-handed southpaw with K.O power in either hand as your first test or certainly real test vs southpaws, hm not liking Parkers chances initially.
I don't think he's fought a southpaw since knocking out the mighty Jason Bergman years ago.

This will be a huge test.

In an age of posturing, promoting, marinating and all of that rubbish - these two just want to fight.

                      Respect.
