You're right. I should have added "in an ideal scenario". I know at grassroots level in Britain, there's virtually no testing.
The riders are tested year-round though, outside events. You're probably right that there's fewer cyclists, but let's say boxing had a governing body. They could start by testing everyone in a universally agreed top 30 in each weight class. It would still be an improvement on what we had. They could also liaise with local commissions to try to improve local testing protocols.I don't know much about cycling but it seems to me for the Tours in France, Spain, Italy and wherever else its going to be the same 100-200 riders and they are all in the same place for an event. The logistics for testing are wildly different to professional fights taking place in a dozen or more countries every weekend and thousands of pro boxers.Comment
