And yes this would back him up into a corner but funny enough not a single word from Boots
You’d figure he’d be on this like a fly on chit
I agree, Jaron should be stating something by now like taking a lower purse which his father refused (2X according to Bud's twitter account) or beat the top of division early this year to entice Bud as there is time.

Roiman Villa is the best name he has faced so far, and props to him making it happen as he was the mandatory. But Roiman is a brawler with well endowed power with no outstanding skills and no Major performances outside his fight with Ellis. He needs to fight more top 5 contenders instead of just one despite having a record of 30-0.

Honestly I think Villa would be in a 50/50 fight with Alexis Rocha as he did with Ellis whom he was losing to until the knockdowns.

They are now fighting under the same promotion instead of Bud being a free agent or fighting on BLK Prime. Bud is not gunning for one opponent now and wants to prove he is indeed the "GOAT" to get bigger fights. (Like let's say pushing to fight Canelo).

There are also not other active fighters at 147 that will make the big PPV numbers that Bud wants if we are being honest. He has P4P skills and power, but it takes two tango and he is not a big draw for the casual base. He is more on it for the money to provide himself (and family) rather than Legacy, that's just how he operates. Ennis's team should know what route to take to get the opportunity.

But Ennis is currently wasting the opportunity. I am not sure why though.

Whether it happens or not is another discussion but I just find it very hilarious that the minute Bud is signed or engaged in other talks , here comes Boots and his wailing ways
Now is the time to wail away but total silence
Does Boots really want the smoke or not ?

Boots is still at 147. Crawford's focus needs to be winning the lineal title at 154. To do that he needs to either beat Charlo or, if Charlo vacates, position himself in the top 2 of the division. To do that he needs to beat someone at 154. It's that simple. There is nothing at 147 for him anymore.

Crawford is one of only 9 fighters in the history of boxing to be lineal champion in 3 weight classes. If he becomes lineal in 4 weight classes, that list would just be Floyd, Pac, and Crawford. That's what Crawford is chasing.

Do we know if there's an exception in the rematch clause that would allow Crawford to take an interim fight?

I won't even go to that extent. Doesn't even make sense in believing rematch clauses having no definite dates. Would it still be okay to make the rematch happen in 2025, as an example?

I wouldn't be shocked if he moved up as 154 to aim to win a belt in another division, however Terrance has gone on record that if he was to rematch Spence, it take place on 147 and wouldn't give Errol that kind of advantage. (Which by the way, the one who lost shouldn't be demanding anything.) Nor has he come public that he will be doing so after 5 months after the bout.

              At least for now.

No clue. I wasn't party to the contract negotiations. Were you, or is this all just idle speculation?

Exactly this whole situation is a joke. Something is off. I suspect Bud might be using it as an excuse to sit on the side lines. If you active a rematch clause you have to make the fight and a date immediately not 6 months later.

Haven’t heard anything but if Spence can go ahead and have surgery I’m sure that Bud can take a fight in the meanwhile
Usually a rematch is to be forced between six months to a year
I figure that Spence ain’t gonna be ready for minimum 6 months and that would be over a year easily
Hope an announcement is imminent in the near future

Everyone here is not present in the negotiations either, but I was just asking what I see is based on common sense. If I were another fighter who wants to be active, would I be okay if the rematch is dragged on forever? Of course not. Only difference here is Crawford doesn't mind because he thinks he's no longer at that stage where he wants to be as active as when he's younger.
