Canelo Alvarez is the clear-cut boss of the super middleweight division. The shiny world titles that are d****d over his shoulders are one component of that statement but more than anything, whenever he enters the ring, he draws eyeballs. This year, however, has been up and down for the pound-for-pound star.

He's partially right. Benavidez is the mandatory and has earned his shot at Canelo. Morrell has elite talent, but he is a complete unknown outside of boxing and hasn't fought anybody remotely notable to put his name in the hat with all the other top guys. Canelo is the cash cow of the sport and deserves to march to the beat of his own drum, but Benavidez has been at his front door knocking and he's gonna hafta open it some time. Morrell needs to add some notable names to his resume and build his profile some more bc he is high-risk low-reward at the moment. Regardless, Canelo vs both those guys(mainly Benavidez) are serious matchups that hopefully can happen in the near future.

Morrell needs a top name to be put into the same Canelo sweepstakes as Benavidez who has already earned that shot beating Plant and Andrade.

Won’t be surprised when he calls it a day without mentioning any of them and sailing away

Does anyone know who's next in the alphabet mandatory unification rotation? IE: IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO.

Paulie's two sentence quote comes at the very end and is pure speculation given as a talking head to a YouTube channel. Article created for content's sake only.
