Comments Thread For: Nevada Commission Addresses Claims Surrounding Vergil Ortiz-Fredrick Lawson Jan. 6 Bout In Las Vegas

A lengthy investigation is now underway regarding allegations made surrounding a quick stoppage. BoxingScene.com has confirmed with the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Fredrick Lawson was never in jeopardy of not being cleared to fight this past weekend. Lawson was stopped in the opening round of a DAZN-aired main event versus Vergil Ortiz this past Saturday at ****** Hotels Las Vegas.

Not surprisingly, sounds like Tony Weeks is a corrupt liar. There was no reason for HIPAA to have been violated for him to be made privy to the boxer's medical information anyways. He should never work a boxing fight again.

The story by Weeks sounded fishy to begin with. How can a brain aneurysm be detected on two separate scans and the fight be allowed to proceed? I get that there is corruption in boxing but the liability would be crazy. Oscar would not risk something like that, especially for a tune-up fight!

That should be the end of Tony Weeks.

No more Bayless and Weeks means less fights potentially ruined by incompetence.

Weeks needs to join Bayless in retirement. They were good refs like 15yrs ago, but they've long since sullied their reputations.

This isn't Weeks 1st go around in stopping fights like this! He's in promoters pockets; He sucks and should never work a professional boxing event again. This is my opinion, if he don't like it oh well.

If that Facebook post is accurate to what he thinks but cannot be proved by medical tests, Weeks should be done. His job is to ensure the safety of the fighters in the ring, not out of it. Not his place to pass judgement on an existing (or in this case likely non-existing) condition.

Suspend him until this is ironed out.

Weeks tried saving his ass but got caught smh.

Time to hang em up he was a very good ref but he's been blowing it a lot recently.

interweb says tony weeks net worth is 5 to 6 mil

does this include brown envelopes i wonder?

if thats not how its done then just getting the big gigs is reward enough i guess

the next lot will probably be just the same tho lol
