  • ***ATTENTION*** NEW PLAYERS WANTED! NEW FORMAT NSB Pick Em 2024. $1350 PRIZE FUND!

Okay gentlemen it's that time of year again! This years Pick Em is kicking off next weekend with Mundo vs Artur and we got some exciting news about a change of format and increased prize fund for 2024.

For those of you entirely new to the Pick Em - or indeed the forum - the NSB Pick Em is an annual prediction league that's been running since 2017, a little corner where we can test ouer boxing knowledge and engage in friendly banter about the sport we all love. From 2019 onwards the Site got on board and started offering prizes to the top scoring players each year.

Points are awarded for the correct prediction of the winner in the fights we select with extra points awarded for the corrrect method of victory (decison or stoppage) and for accuracy of detail (either points range or stoppage rounds)

If you've never given it a look before now's the time to start... first thread will be stickied tomorrow. To join in all you got to do is post your Pick according to the rules laid out in the thread (or the upcoming 2024 Masterthread) and you're in.

    No registration

    No sign-up

No entry requirements (except that you're already a registered 'Scene user)

And if you ain't sure what to do or you got any questions just ask one of the other p[ayers or one of the volunteers who help run the game - the self named PICK EM CREW consisting of myself ( Citizen Koba ), Mikey G, NC Uppercut , SteveM and last but certainly not least Tatabanya

For those of you who have played before we're looking at a significant change in format this year.. for the last few years all our regular players will have noted how many players drop out over the course of the year.. a kinda natural process of attrition since evn missing a few picks or picking badly for a few weeks can essentially rule you out of the top slots.

We've discussed the idea before but this years we're taking the plunge in what will be a really significant change to the format of the game.

Instead of a single year long competiton, we're going to break 2024 into 3 seperate seasons:

    January 1st to April 30th,

    May 1st to August 31st

    September 1st to December 31st

EACH seasons top 3 scoring players will be awarded cash prizes as follows:-

    1st Prize $200
    2nd Prize $100
    3rd Prize $50

In addition at the end of the year the player with the highest combined total score across all three seasons will be declared NSB 2024 PICK EM CHAMPION, receive the adulation - or at least the grudging respect - of the best set of boxing critics in the world (your fellow posters) and probably most importantly receive an additonal prize of $300

    2024 CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE $300

So there it is gents... roll up one and all. Take the challenge or just come aboard for the banter and a little light relief from the toxic trolling elsewhere on NSB . Chat with likeminded fans who are just in it to see the best fights and test their boxing accumen.

Look forward to seeing y'all on the NSB PICK EM 2024 #1 and #2 thread tomorrow.

    Best of luck.

    Citizen K

I just want to correct you on something, Tatabanya is last and certainly least.

Should be fun to have 3 different seasons and then an overall champion. People who don’t have the time to stay on top of the contest for the full year at least now have the easier option to stick it out for just one season and still win some money.

Let’s get juggernaut666 involved. Here is a chance to back up his talk and prove to us all how much he really knows about boxing.

EVERYONE on NSB believes that they know a little somepin, somepin about boxing, but only a select few want to put that knowledge to the test on the Pick Em board!

I won’t pretend to be a boxing expert (intermediate/low-advanced, maybe?) and I am wrong just as often as I am right, but I know more than enough to make a few boneheaded guesses. I would like to get in on this finally. When you pick, must you pick from an entire list or can it be selective picks?
