Why am I not surprised to find polywog in a Parker-Zhang thread laying into AJ yet again

I am sorry. What I meant to say was that it was a boring performance for the lack of a better word.
He just didn’t take enough risks against a fighter whose only aim was to last the distance,
Wilder shouldn’t have lasted the distance against him because of his age, inactivity and the fact that Deontay is now a washed out fighter.
However, it still doesn’t detract from my original point that Zhang would be just too big, strong and powerful for Parker.
Joseph Parker just doesn’t possess the type of punching power needed to keep Zhang off him.Last edited by champion4ever; 01-05-2024, 05:40 AM.Comment

However, he still didn’t look spectacular while doing so. That was far from a crowd pleasing performance from Parker as any as I’ve seen because Wilder didn’t come to win or compete. He came just to last the distance and collect a pay day.

Well, Wilder did not just come to last the distance; he hoped to win and talked tough before the fight but IMO was just delusional about his abilities as always.I am sorry. What I meant to say was that it was a boring performance for the lack of a better word.

Almost everyone here predicted he would win, and some started calling Parker shot in their usual manner of discrediting opponents before a fight. The bookies even made him a huge favourite. But now, after the fight, his defenders are all out claiming Wilder is now shot all of a sudden, which is the usual defense used to protect the image of their favorites in these situations. I'm not buying none of it.
And parker did enough and took enough risk in the fight but was up against an opponent who was scared stiff to engage and was completely clueless in a boxing ring as usual. There wasn't more Parker could have done.
Wilder, in my opinion, was in uncharted territory that night. For once in a long while, he was all by himself without close guidance from uncle Al. He was boxed into a corner by the Saudis: fight someone credible and then get the Joshua retire cheque, else, sorry! He had no choice.
The inactivity and a one-round of scripted fight was all self-designed to keep himself only for the Joshua retirement cheque, of which he expected he would lose but didn't care. The Saudis didn't fall for it and that was the game changer.
Wilder is not shot whatsoever. He has just been a fraud all these while.Comment

I think Wilder is the one guy we can accept someone taking a safety first approach to fighting, due to his laundry list of come from behind one punch Ko's.I am sorry. What I meant to say was that it was a boring performance for the lack of a better word.

I tend to agree with you on Parker vs Zhang although if Parker can get into the second half of the fight without taking too much damage then I do think Parker has a real shot because Zhang will be 41 years old by then and he seriously struggled with his stamina last time he went 13 rounds back when he was 38. Zhang has very little to offer past about the 8th or 9th round and Parker has enough handspeed to force a stoppage on a gassed out 41 year old late in a fight.Comment

You've just proved my talking point. Wilder refused to engage because he wanted to survive and last the distance. He fought both tentatively and tight as if he no longer believes in himself. He was more concerned with not getting hit or being KO.

Physically he isn't shot but psychologically he is. The Fury trilogy appeared to have scarred him to the point of not wanting to take risks or eat any more punches than necessary. This safety first approach of his is not the real Deontay Wilder. His confidence is shot.
In any case, how does this fight parlay into a Parker victory over Zhilei Zhang? It doesn't. If Parker failed to stop Joshua, Whyte, Joyce, Chisora 2X and Deontay Wilder. Then what make you fanboys so confident that he could compete and defeat Zhang.
This is a bad style match up for Parker because as I've stated in a previous post; He lacks any real or significant punching power to keep Zhang's 300 lbs ass off him.
If the two were to ever meet in a boxing ring; Then I would have Zhang stopping Joseph Parker either by way of knockout or TKO.Comment

That's true and I agree but it is highly unlikely that Zhang would punch himself out though by the eighth or ninth round. That is if the fight even lasts that long.

The fight would be fought at such a torrid pace that Parker's body would probably be too broken down in order to mount a successful offensive against Zhang.
Once again; Joseph is not a puncher. If he can't seem to so much as hurt or put a dent into Zhang; Then he won't stand a chance of winning this fight.Comment

Andy Lee seems to have unlocked another level in Oilskin's game since the battering he took from Joyce.
Parker can get in get out, hit and not get hit a lot better so I think he'll be too fast and rip body shots which will accumulate and lead to a tko late.

Zhang very likely knocks Parker out faster than Joyce did. Zhang is note as useless as Wilder and he is much better boxer also.Comment
