Comments Thread For: Andre Dirrell To Deontay Wilder: Please Go Back To That Knockout Mentality, You Are Not a Boxer

I don’t get those questioning Andre Dirrell’s credibility. A random fan can say what he said and they would be correct. It’s a very basic observation. Wilder isn’t a boxer type, he’s a wild puncher who goes for the KO. It doesn’t matter who said this. It could’ve been a fighter with a losing record.vaborikua2014 likes this.

Have a look at wilder vs Chris areola, wilder has backed up a bit in fights , parker was smart credit to him , he ducked everytime wilder went for that shot , wilder wanted parker to walk on to one , he did get caught late being greedy , but parker had a great game plan and great chin, wilder clearly wasnt ready for the duck , because normally fighters try to lean back and his long arms get him

If Wilder fought Parker 5 years ago the story would have been the same. The blueprint was there all along. Wilder was never exposed bcs he only took easy fights.
Is there any reason to assume any version of Wilder beats Parker? Wilder’s best wins are Ortiz and Helenius, both with poor speed and lazy footwork. Wilder hasn’t ever beat anyone good. Parker would have been easily his best win and - surprise, surprise - Wilder lost. His record is extremely weak for someone with so many title defences.
Dirrell is right in a way: Wilder is not a good boxer. He’s however also not a good fighter and if he stepped up years ago he would only have more L’s.

wilder hardly threw. he fought scared. he has to let his hands go. yeah he can telegraph badly but that is all he has and the pressure placed on his opponent to slip every bomb makes up some for it being sloppy and telegraphed. plus it comes pretty fast.
its probably a combination of things, age, him getting rocked by fury, ect.
parker aint great at all, he missed a lot, and was open for counters, its just that wilder sucks so bad he cant counter, like he didnt even try to.

well wilder used to actually throw and TRY to get the knockout 5 years ago. I dont see the "story the same" at all. as in going to a decision. wilder would KO parker or get KOd trying to.mrbig1 likes this.
