I think Benavidez vs Morrell could be a great fight. But Benavidez deserves his shot at Canelo and the belts. And it's long past due for Canelo to defend his belts against a legitimate opponent in his weight class.

Who is a more proven fighter, Charlo or Morrell?

Jermall has proven nothing at 168. Andrade also proved nothing at 168, but that's WHY Benavidez fought him. What they did at 154-160 means nothing as to how they'll perform at their 3rd weight. Being a bigger name does not = more proven or more competitive. We can let Team Benavidez spin the narrative that Andrade and Jermall are more "proven" than Morrell, but us fight fans should be able to see through the marketing. I think Morrell is being kept stagnant so that he can't interfere with Canelo/Benavidez. It's much easier to avoid someone whose profile isn't growing because he isn't getting the fights he needs. Jermall is a stepping stone for Benavidez, just like Andrade. The objective is to fatten up Benavidez as a PPV attraction so that he's more likely to get Canelo. Morrell isn't top priority.

I'm not calling for canelo because if he is not fighting benavidez, who I think should be fighting next, he will never fight Morrell Jr. At the end of the day benavidez is not afraid nor a pu$$y like canelo. And benavidez holds another secondary belt which like you say means nothing. It's not about the belts, it's about climbing the ladder and benavidez is next up, on the same side of the street. What are you afraid of? One guy is calling out the other and his fans are throwing excuses left and right.
