And to think it was an “excuse” to move up in weight to fight one of the best pfp in boxing and do something rarely if ever done into a weight class his frame truly has no business within yet, “not Morrell or Benevidez.” I’m sorry but Bivol is leagues above both in talent. Your logic just isn’t adding up.
Was the mandatory ever ordered? If you paid attention you will know that Eddie was extremely enthusiastic about Canelo fighting Ryder 1 year before it happened. Canelo in reality wanted to Ryder regardless, because it was another excuse to beat up a british can. The mandatory thing was always a cover. Benavidez is his mandatory and look how he is acting about that. lol.

Acting how? His mandatory was named to take place AFTER his fight with Charlo. That was ordered by the WBC.

Ok cool. Like i said from the comments Hearn was pumping up that fight a year before that, his original intent was to make the fight in the UK. I think Canelo would have fought Ryder anyway.

LHW and CW for boxing, find me one champ in either division south of 6’. Fighting frame and boxing frame are worlds apart and no his frame for boxing is nowhere close to either weight class. That’s be like saying Tyson stands a chance against the HW goliaths of today. And to even remotely come to the conclusion that Morrell is even close to the competition of Bivol is laughable and complete ******ity at best. WBC just named his next mando. That’ll tell us every we need to know
You can laugh all you want, especially since I have never compare bivol in any way or form to Morrell jr, and for you to say that canelo doesn't have the frame of a lightheavyweight is laughable. We all know his MO, why he offered the fight to bivol, why he tried to bring back down Jack with that ridiculous 20 lbs under the CW division, but if that looks great to you congratulations you're just a fraud as he is.

          • Some people are acting like Morrell is this awesome fighter, who deserves to fight for all of the 168 belts after now, 10 wins. While he looks good, Agbeko was his highest ranking opponent at #36. The argument that his other nine opponents had great records is misleading, as many of them aren't ranked at all. Saying this guy isn't being fast-tracked is erroneous. I've seen young fighters who look great in their early fights, suddenly get matched tough and have their careers ruined by a seasoned pro. Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins comes to mind.

He did Cherry pick Ryder. His other mandatories are Benavidez and Morrell. Benavidez had been hia mandatory for years and long before Ryder. Canelo is not going to fight Morrell either.

Apparently Canelo only fights mandatories when the opponent is on the level of Ryder or Avni Yildrim. So you just exposed your hero, Karen. Find another excuse. I just destroyed that one.

If you’ve been following the sport long enough, you’ve seen it: promising looking fighters that get exposed the moment they step up. Always a concern. I feel that way about Morrell, but he sure looks good at the moment.

You do know how to read yes? I know the public education system is failing the soy boy generation but the WBC JUST announced post Charlo fight Benevidez is mando. Not before, not “for years” but post Charlo. Take the L and move along kiddo.

oh and in other reading news…if you made it past 5th grade, Ryder was mando. It’s cute though, you’re new to the sport….welcome

To be a little more complete here, WBC just re-confirmed that Benavidez is the mandatory. He earned the WBC interim belt, which is the mandatory, May 21, 2022. He has been mandatory since then. Morrell has been WBA mandatory since January 2021, however. He's the one who's been waiting for years, not Benavidez.

And if you followed the news, you could ALSO point out that the WBO president said specifically that GGG also satisfied the WBO mandatory. Which is pretty ******, but I digress.

if they cared about mandatories, Morrell would be next up, followed by the IBF mandatory. But it really does seem like Canelo tells them who's his mandatory, rather than the other way around.
