He only offered Shakur 25%. Shakur said that would amount to less than what he got paid in his previous fight.
He should have rematched Loma at 135. That was arguably a fight that he loss. If you want to compare yourself to Floyd Mayweather then you have to run close fights back. That's probably another reason why people are hating on Haney. His actions aren't matching his words.
Bob is at fault for that imo, requiring that ridiculous rematch with Kambosos instead of 2 fights with Loma.
Yeah, alot of posters said same about running it back. I get that but not if it requires you to starve yourself.
Maybe. But Haney had been getting irrational hate for a while.

The Haney hate is very warranted. Email champ, weight bully, gift decision to Lomachenko that he won’t rematch, fighting 35 year olds and weak title holders. Outweighing his opponents by 15-20lbs and can’t KO them. He dwarfed Lomachenko and still got his ass kicked. If Mayweather had 15lbs on an opponent, it will for sure end in KO.Comment

Just hope he doesn’t all the sudden get concussive ko power out of nowhere.Comment

It's probably because his old man is ranting and raving about how Devin's the best fighter on the planet and clowning Floyd's career, after he beat Regis. It may not seem fair, but this is what happens when one toots one's horn too loud, too soon.Comment

hes been doing that for years lolComment

That's not a realistic offer. 60/40 would have been fair just because Haney had the belts. But what makes Haney think he can offer someone a 25% split. Bro, you're not bringing that any money to the table. Haney is still largely a nobody so a 25% split is basically a **** you offer. That's the kind of offer you make when you're not serious about the fight, but want to save face.
The end result is that Haney moved up and got another belt while Shakur had to linger around waiting for an opponent and finally ended up fighting for just one of Haney's belt for likely less money. Now after that boring match Shakur will have even less allure to get big money matches in the future. If Shakur thought he could win against Haney (which I thought he will) and was smart enough to look at the long term picture back then, Shakur would be an undisputed lightweight right now and have every right to offer 25 to any contender not named Tank (who obviously has no interest in fighting a live body) and made so much more money while having the legacy of being three division champ currently undisputed.Comment
